Is anyone getting the flu jab? or had one already while pregnant? Were there any side affects? Im not sure whether to have one or not

I'm going to get it - my dad is a GP and says that I should get it done so I shall be following his advice.

i have been offered it, but i think we had the flu already. my son had something nasty at the height of the epidemic last time.

my oh was at docs last week and he is confident that baby will be out before the next wave of the flu which he expects in a couple of months.

think i'll take my chance and give it a miss

Im thinking i might skip it, Ive never had proper flu before.. And im so sensitive to "forein" substance (Even amoxycillin kicks my ass and im in bed for a couple weeks feeling like death) that id get nasty ass side affects.

yeah im going to give it a miss too I had the flu jag before and I wasnt pregnant and it had me in bed for weeks really unwell x

Imagine having proper flu, not just a bad cold and having to care for a newborn who has just caught your proper flu. My ds has had a cold for weeks now, I can't imagine seeing him go through the pain of flu. The real deal is nasty!

I only had swine flu jab so far and i felt rough for 24hours but having it outweighed the benefits of not having it esp as im in travel and peope are always coming and going in office

I've had swine flu jab but not been offered normal flu job yet. Swine flu just gave me a bit of an achy arm but nothing else. I guess the docs should know what they're doing and wouldn't give anything to pregnant women that would harm them or baby (you would hope!!).

Hi Kat, today Im going fore the Swine flu jab, bit nervous about it making me ill, but I think it should be okay know a couple of girls who had it when pregnant and all was okay. Havent been offered the actual flu jab as yet but get it every year and it hasnt done me any harm - I guess everyone reacts different and it is a personal descision.

I believe the swine and flu are combined this time.
This is what is making me think more about it, if just flu i would have it, but for some reason i am thinking twice with the flu combined with the swine. These is no choice, you get both in one hit.

I didnt know that must enquire when I go ...... I think I will still get it I am really pron to colds and flu and I previously had a collasped lung so it is higher risk and I def dont want that happening again.

Ok didnt know it was the swine and normal flu in one go.. Ive been told i cant have the swine flu one because its a live vaccine or something.. or is it dead .. i cant remember but one of them i have problems with apparently and its a different kind of vaccine and im not spose to have it.. so would they do a flu one without it?

That is what my MW told me, who was trying to push me into the nurses office for it. So i decided to think about it. Basically because last year people had their flu jab, and not as many wanted the swine as well, so they combined the two this year. I personnally think is naughty of them, people should have the choice.

Just worried as the swine flu jab was made in such a hurry last year, that it makes me wonder about the long term effects to the baby. It is so hard to find information which isn't either really pro or against.

The flu jab has no live vaccine so should not make you ill at all, only vaccines that contain live ingradients make you groggy after!

my doctor said that his advice to me is to wait and see if there is an out break of flu or swine flu around the area we stay in and if not then he doesnt see why I should need to have them injected into my body xx

ye i'm not worried about the normal flu, just swine flu as it can be very harmful to pregnant women! hopefully we wont hear of any swine flu this winter!

yeah thats what the doctor said to and he said that years ago when we didnt have all these "scares" pregnant woman werent as stressed in their pregnancies xx

Eh I dont thinks so...the vulnerable are being doe just now and it is normal flu jab, not got swine one yet... unless my nana has it wrong, highly likely

yeah its just the flu jab in our area to I asked the receptionist at my doctors last week and she said they dont have any swine flu vaccanations in and they dont think that they will be getting them this year xx
