Iv finally found 5 mins to update and uploa a pic of my beautiful baby boy Archie Alexander.
So I was due on the 27.09.2012, so was shocked when at 3am on the 22.09.2012 I got up to use the loo and check what the noise was outside when trickle trickle down my leg...my waters...
Hubby had been working until 2am so I thought ill get a bath and see what happens, contractions started almost immediately, I didn't find them painful as such, more a bad perios pain which soon passed, I kept telling myself its mind over matter...this is going to get worse...breathe woman!
I rang the maternity Assessment Unit who said I really needed to go in, I was also having lots of show by this point so after a few hours we set off for hospital at 6am, when we arrive I get examined and am told I am 3cm dilated, woohoo I thought! They said I could go up to the birthing centre at 4cm so to go for a walk and return at 8.30am...so this is exactly what we did, by the time it came to go back I was contracting every minute and a half, was re-examined and was 6cm...so off we went to the birthing suite.
When we arrived I asked for gas and air as by this time contractions were coming thick and fast and were quite painful, hubby went for the bags and then I cahnged into tankini top and got in the pool...
It didnt feel like I was in the pool long before saying I needed to push, the midwife looked at hubby as if to say I don't think shes ready...but on further examination said oh...you can push!
Apparently I was pushing for just under 2 hours, it felt like 2 mins, I didnt have any pain relief whilst pushing, that was an experience! Once his head was out I knew it was nearly over, it amazed me where I got my strength and stamina from to push as hard and as long as I did.
Archie entered the world at 11:44am, his cord was left to pulstae and I delivered placenta without injection. And the brucey bonus being I needed NO stitches!!!
Archie is now 10 days old, the time is flying, days rolling into one, and my baby is changing every day. The love I feel is amazing and what i wouldn't do for him, its like he has always been here and I have known him all of my life
