My poor boy isn't well and is in pain today :-( he has a granuloma on his belly button and it's infected and really red and inflamed. He got swabs taken on Thursday for infection but we've not heard back yet.

Not sure what to do to help him?

Sassy! Poor CJ!!! I heard that if you rub a tiny bit of Vaseline on an earbud on his bottom it helps the poo come out easier. I've never tried it but my friend swore by it.

Msclaireypants, my mw told me that if her belly button ever got infected that a bit of breast milk would help soothe it. That was before the cord fell off though so don't know if that would help?

Hope they feel better soon lovelies!

Nicky, make one! You could always paint her hand/foot and print it onto paper or a normal Easter card?

Xxx

Sassy have you tried putting some baby oil on his tummy and massaging in a clockwise direction? And giving him some water xx

I gave him an oz of water, which he was sick with, put Vaseline on his bum, bicycle legged him and rubbed his tummy, he is now laid asleep on me, I'm not putting him down while he is settled!!!
I have one of two things that may be causing it.....
1) the formula..... He is on hipp as was told how good it was for them etc
2) the gaviscon.... Apparently this can cause constipation too.....
Just don't know what to do, gonna try him with just the ranitidine today I think, see how he goes with the vomitting, and then I guess if it doesn't get better maybe try a different formula??? It's such a minefield and I'm so lost, feel like a crap mummy hearing him scream in pain like that :-( xx

Both of mine have been aptamil babies and I've never had any problems with constipation diarrhoea vomiting etc. Ben's a bit sicky atm but nothing that would concern me. Cesca's 19 months old and has been ill once in her whole life and only had 2 colds... She really did thrive on the aptamil and I'm hoping Ben does the same. He's putting on weight excellently at the moment and we haven't had any nappy problems.

I definitely recommend Aptamil but of course every baby is different. Also with the gaviscon and rinitadine, be careful. 90% of babies who are diagnosed with and treated for reflux don't actually have reflux it's just where their bodies are still developing.

Hope you find something that works for you soon xxx

I second heppi's recommendatoon of aptimil. We gave it to my daughter when I stopped breast feeding her and never had any problems. In fact it was the one most of the parents in our antenatal group gave their children cos someone said it was closest to breast molkt (don't know if that's true or not) and none of them had any problems or had to switch formula either

I've heard that it's the closest to breast milk but I don't know if that's true. All I know is that it's good lol xx

I've got some cow and gate comfort milk to try him with, see if that helps at all!!! Xx

Quick question ladies; skyler has red cheeks, is dribbling and sucking her fists... She can't be teething can she? She's been dribbling and fist sucking past 2 days but the red cheeks have just appeared this afternoon; anything to be concerned with?

I think I'm getting the dreaded cold :-( not what I need when she won't stay off my boob longer than 5 minutes!
