~February & March Mummies and Babies~

My poorly girl :( She's just thrown up her last two feeds :(

This time I was trying to burp her when it happened, but last time it was ages after the feed, so not gonna be able to sleep tonight.

I think my boobs are broken..... Usually the milk is flowing outta em, but just tried to express and could only get 60ml! :-( x

Mine were the same after a few days I'm lucky to get 50ml out if the both of them now sassy and it takes forever! So frustrating! Xx

Sorry I've been quiet ladies! We have tried everything for him he just won't have any of it the little grizzly bear! Paul goes back to work tomorrow. =/ where have the last 2 weeks gone?! Diane don't feel bad trust me when they are hungry or unhappy they are quick to tell us! Alfies been up all night then slept for 6 hours and because he didn't wake I didn't either, then I woke and still had to wake him! Sleep is sometimes more important! Don't feel bad your doing amazingly xx

Just fed CJ, working on the day/night thing so put him straight back into his basket to sleep, but he is chattering away and sounds so rattly, I'm scared he might be sick or something but don't wanna keep putting light on to check!!! Paranoid mother alert!!!
Apparently Maddie, if your tired, stressed, run down, under nourished or dehydrated it can all effect your milk flow..... I've been feeling poorly all yesterday so wonder if this is why? Xx

Oops didn't mean to post just that!

I get worried too and have all these alarms and schedules to the point it's becoming obsessive! I hate having to wake her when she's sound asleep as she falls asleep at the bottle and doesn't drink much. I think on demand is much better. Don't worry at all Diane!

Today would've been my due date! I wonder had she been healthy etc when I would have gone into labour! I was convinced I'd be the full 2 weeks late!

How is everyone today? What are everyone's plans? I'm planning on a walk to see how far I can go. Otherwise nothing much really.

Jenni - babies get a growth spurt at 10 days, which could explain Indias grizzlies? They get kinda funky for a night or two, then settle down for a coupla weeks.

Cay did the whole vomit everything all the time for a coupla days. We fixed it by keeping him upright for feeds, burping him every 20ml, and keeping him sat upright for 20 minutes after every feed.
Now he feeds normally, only needs burping half way through and at the end, and hardly ever voms :) xx

Morning ladies, I finally get to join in! Me and Blake should be let out of hospital tomorrow and they have just got me out of bed for the first time. I've not really slept for the last 4 nights now and am itching to go home. Blake is totally perfect but keeps refusing the breast :/ I've just had a go at hand expressing, but only got about 1ml out. Not sure what to do, but will speak to mw's later.

Jenni- Blake born 18/2/13 8lbs 8oz xxx

The most important thing is to not beat yourself up about the whole breast/formula situation. A calm and happy mummy is more important than benefits of bf make sure you do ask hun the mw were great helping me with latch etc x

Also if u decide to express you need a bad ass pump I bought the medela swing but have only used it for week as was having to combi feed so just moved her onto formula x

Thanks Hun. They say I'm doing everything right, I get the nipple in his mouth but he won't suck! We managed ok yesterday so I'm not sure what's up.

DC I had the exact same issues, he would latch for mw but not for me, defo ask the midwife.... I hand expressed, started at 1ml and it built up!!! I now use a manual pump but thinking of going electric!

Babybee, don't do too much, take it easy at first!!!!

Well CJ has been awake since 5am, I need to work on this sleep time lark, need to program his body clock into mine lol!!! 8am is quite early enough! Typically he is now just falling asleep! Xx

Jenni hope all is ok hun xxx

Yay dc welcome to mummyhood! Sorry u also had a hard time of it, these feb babies certainly like their dramatics!

I'm off to take skyler to the doctor today about her eye. Its still gunky and now it's gone a bit green too :-( hv told me yesterday she will need eye drops :-( I'm also going to speak to them again about her feeding. Last night she took 120ml at 11 and didn't wake for another feed! I only woke up at 6 when my husbands alarm went off and she was still fast asleep but I fed her anyways and she took another 100ml ish. I just can't see how it's normal for a 2 week old to basically sleep through the night! I know what you mean babybee I feel like I have alarms and schedules to stick to and through the day she's fine, feeding every 3-4 hours (not taking 120 tho, averaging about 90) then at night she just guzzles her last bottle and is out for the count!

I found day after delivery harder to feed hun the first day they are a bit shocked etc still. Youll get there hun n if he wont latch n uve persevered then you have other options- its that skin to skun and initial feed thats the most important. Most importantly dont beat yourself up- you have been through a lot! Xx the jan mummies are asking after you :0)

As an aside if your after a pump sassy im considering selkubg my medela I used it for a week pm me x

Lovely name HL28!

Sassy not to worry, my hubby came on the walk with me. We walked at a snails pace and then I had a sit down and chill out in the sun whilst he took her on a longer and quicker walk. It was really nice. Back to pumping - what a life!

I have an electric pump and I love it! It's from mothercare, not sure of the model but I can find out and let you know?

Diane, hope all goes well with the doctor tomorrow!

I have another midwife appt tomorrow, I have one every other day to monitor E's weight gain. I really hope she's put more on! We upped her base feed to 80ml today, she was at 65 but wanted more the past few days.

Sassy, how are the milk supplies now? I find that if I don't leave a good 3 hours between pumps then my milk supplies go down. But I'm still very early days with all of this!

Maddie, how are you? You're doing so well with the little night time grizzley cub!

How have ladies and babies been today? Xxx
