FAO ANYONE who has ever had a bank charge

quick question.......... can you claim for additional charges made on loans and credit cards?

Have you just seen the watchdog programme on bank charges. Amazing the stunts they pull not to have to pay you YOUR money back. Cheeky banks!!

Finally A got his letter back from Barclays today, they won't give him the full amount but have offered £618 as a goodwill gesture! :cheer:

Perfect timing! :cheer:

KK - C had this first - he claimed £4500 back!!! They offered him £3000 first as a goowill gesture, C said no and 4 weeks later got £4500!! So depending on what the difference is between what you are claiming and what they are offering, it might be worth sticking to your original claim amount...............they even made him sign a document to say he wouldn't go to the press!

sign a document

think he's going to take it, I said hold on but he's happy to get this much back, don't think he was expecting anything!

I just had a letter back in the week, saying that Lloyds TSB expect to get back to me within 4 weeks :wall:

Was quite a stupid letter, said sorry to hear you are unhappy......if we have misunderstood your complaint please contact us.......

......but they didn't anywhere in the letter state what they understood my complaint to be  idiots! Just a bog standard letter that they must send out whenever they get a letter

After getting my charges back Im in the process of doing the same for OH who banks with Lloyds TSB. He got the same letter as that this morning. What do I do, write to them saying its unacceptable and we're taking them to court or just wait?

They're just trying to buy themselves time

You should write back and say I'm charging interest at 8% per DAY

Hiya, I was looking on the Consumer Action Group website, they said you stick to your timetable so after first letter requesting the charges be refunded, wait 14 days then send letter before action, then another 14 days and file court claim. HTH
xx

Kirsty - I'm leaving them for a bit to get back to me - but I have a mega busy week this week so have no time to follow it up till next week anyway ........send them another letter saying that you will file a court claim as ellie said :cheer:

KK - Yep! C had to sign a document sent over by Lloyds TSB's solicitors stating that by accepting the refund in full of the charges he would not go to the press or publicise the payment he received!! Think it was because of the high amount, but may be what they do as standard with claims - we'll find out when I get to the end of my claim with them.

holy cow! HSBC are going to refund us £649 in 7days!!!!! :cheer:

what letters did you send because i dont understand alot of what those letters say  the draft ones

go to money saving expert. (should be on google) thats where i got mine. I asked for the bank stats then replyed saying they owed me £720 (i didnt add interest) and they replyed about 4 weeks later saying there willying to pay £649 and that i should accept that because there "confident" that if i took them to court id lose and id also have to spend money on court fees that i wouldnt get back because i wouldnt win lol i know id win but i aint complaining at £649!!! :rotfl:

we closed our account over a year ago, and have got rid of all the statements.

and, so we have forgotten our account numbers

do you think we can still send the letters with all the other info, just not the account number?

Got a letter off the bank this morning saying something like this...

As you are aware we refunded all charges back to you....however it is clear you do not accept certain aspects of the terms and conditions of your account so we can no longer offer you banking services...

Basically they're shutting my account down in 3 weeks

I wouldnt be bothered but I've gotta find £250 now to pay back my overdraft

And I thought it was me who had the last laugh :|

People are disputing that this is unlawful too.

Look on the consumer action group website. Here's a thread on A&L it clicky

How can they close your account while you're overdrawn anyway? What are they going to do about getting the money back...charge you?

i got 101.40 back today yay not much but its all i had on this account i think.

can you tell me do you write to your branch, as i have now moved so would it be to my old branch or my local one, or do you write to head office.

Just wanted to say thankyou for starting this thread and the useful info Sassyminx, and thankyou to everyone else for adding their stories too

I've been with HSBC about 19yrs now, they have always been great, but today I found a £41 charge on my account, saying NOTIFIED FEES/CHG :? So, I rang them and it is indeed a charge for being overdrawn, although I am usually overdrawn EVERY month, and I always believed I had a £50 buffer, they said I didn't, so now I am going to use all your help on this thread to fight their charge, so thankyou :) OH is looking into his Halifax statements now too, will let you know when anything happens, thanks again!!

Good Luck everyone awaiting money back!!
