False labour?

This all happened to me yesterday as well, and I was awake nearly all night with period like cramps, but hardly anything going on today! Very frustrating, but hope your LO stays a bit longer for you x :)

Well happening again today :(

Started about midnightish last night, cramping in waves and sharp pains in cervix, and woke up every hour/ half hour (so sleepy couldn't actually tell how often) to the pain and naturally had to pee every time I woke up. Was not a pleasant night!

Still had the pains when I got up in the morning but just got on with it. Suffered through lunch, even went to my bump portrait shoot this afternoon and drove with them! It has gradually progressed up my bump to across the top of my bump. Now it's top and bottom, which is rather uncomfortable. The ones across the top make me feel quite sick :(

Keeping aware of the timing of them, they're not getting closer together or anything so I've been quite happy just to let them pass.

I was at my NCT class tonight and just sitting down for that length of time really made me uncomfortable, so I needed to leave early, sitting is not good in pain! Definitely a good reason to try for an active birth when the time comes!!

So still sitting at home, watching OBEM on More4, but gonna have to run a bath soon I think, even though it's too hot and clammy for a bath in my opinion!

I worry that the BH are uncomfortable for baby, cos he/she is moving about soooooo much, cutting shapes and sticking bum, arms and legs out really far totally stretching my skin which doesn't really help!!

Anyway, that's been my day today! xx

Agh... Leesey :( when's your next MW appt? Can you maybe call her tomorrow and have a chat, see what she says?!? Sounds awful...xxx

I just had mw yesterday!! Cos I had protein and leukocytes in my urine on Friday, I brought my mw appointment forward to yesterday, so still got 2 weeks before I see her again!

TBH I don't think they believe my BH are as strong as they are - obviously comparing it to 'real' contractions they're probably not, but it's still very uncomfortable!!

I don't think I'll bother phoning unless either they're still here tomorrow morning, or they start getting so close together I'm getting no relief from them xx

Yeah phone in the morning, hope you manage to get some sleep.. :( xx

Oh Leesey, it must be incredibly uncomfortable for you! Since my episode on Monday Night I've read some ladies can be in an pre-early labour stage for a while before early labour starts and I reckon this is what you must be going through. The only downside being that until you head towards established labour there is little the hospital will do.

I'd be tempted to make a bit of a fuss at your Mw appt purely because at this rate you'll be knackered when it does kick off.

How far along are you? Sorry im on my phone so can see your ticker. Xx

Not got any advice, just wanted to say I hope it eases off a little so you can get some rest! Xx

I'm 36 weeks (by my dates) today FBE, so a bit early for causing such a fuss but having discussed with midwife last week about going into early labour they said that they wouldn't need to give baby anything at this stage as he/she is a healthy weight and lungs will be nearly there anyway. I've said for months that I think I'll go early, and after the worrying fortnight we had with the reduced movement I just want bubs here safe and well. I'm wondering if I should just try get things started. Ball bouncing and clary sage to start with maybe!

You're right about being knackered as it's affecting my sleep and my eating, I'll have no energy left at this rate!

I've held off phoning the midwife cos I've heard the speech 'if it were real labour you'd be less polite, excrutiating pain, etc, blah blah' but they did say I'm a 'sensible girl' who will know when to come in.

I timed the pains this morning at 6am and they were coming every 2-3 minutes. The tightenings themselves were lasting a minute or so, but the actual pain was only lasting around 10 seconds. The pain would be more than that if it were real labour wouldn't it?

Funny thing is, at my NCT class one of the girls was saying 'oh yeah my friend had that, she thought it was braxton hicks too cos she thought it could never be that easy... then baby popped out!!'

Maybe after all the crap I've dealt with in this pregnancy I'll get the world's easiest labour  xx

A woman at my works daughter went into early labour and delivered her baby at 35weeks, she was fine. Wasn't even in an incubator or any breathing equipment etc... Think she was kept in a bit longer, but all seems well . So your at a stage now not to worry too much.
Maybe you should give your midwife a call, or the maternity unit and ask for some advice. Just say that you don't think it's labour but obviously your concerned and would like some advice, as your not sleeping etc...
I know they say that 'you'll know when it's labour' but what about these people who have babies on the toilet etc... Or get caught out! Not meaning to scare you :) haha!! I just think its better to get checked xxx

I don't know if it's because I've been lying on my back for half an hour while browsing through the forum on the laptop but they seem to have tailed off a bit... maybe I'm getting a wee break!

I'll have something to eat then try to be a bit more active, if they come back I'll phone, if they don't I'll just put it down to very efficient practice contractions :p xx

I wish mine would start practicing! Haha!!!!xx

Wow fx it's just strong practice contractions hon. I hope things have settled down a bit now.

Not really, less frequent but I'm keeping busy to distract myself. At one point today it was like one long painful contraction while I was driving. Unpleasant!!
But they're not getting any closer together and I don't have a baby appearing between my legs so I think we're good for now ;) xx
