Evening primrose capsules...

My tuppence worth...

At our hypnobirthing classes they recommended taking evening primrose oil for the last 4 weeks - its not an induction method, it just helps soften the cervix. She said could either swallow them or sterilise a pin, put a wee prick (ooer!) in the capsule so the oil can come out and insert it up your foof at night(funnily enough she didn't use the word foof in the classes, hehe!) If any capsule left in the morning just take it out and throw it away.

Who knows if it works but if theres a chance it will soften the cervix, whatever way you take it, and help make things easier then I reckon its worth a go.

Thanks! Myself and a few others have tried to explain that it isn't an induction method just softens the cervix but it was going unheard :)

Helen123-

I dunno if it is just co-incidence, but after drinking RLT and taking EPO, my contractions were so strong I dilated from 5-10 cm in about a minute if that's possible, right before the mw's eyes (f@@king hurt it did!), one involuntary push and out he flew into the shocked mw's hands.... no tears or anything!

I believe that the rlt strengthens the uterus to make the contractions more effective and the epo softens everything down there to make less damage.

And the only reason I didn't insert it was cos if the mw couldn't reach my cervix then I sure as hell couldn't lol..!

This actually has me giggling.

Just got up from a lovely sleep - I'm the same Lealea, this whole thing has got me in hysterics  It's been blown up so out of proportion, all because I disagree!

:slap: naughty me!

I still stand by what I say tho, i'm entitled to my opinion, my beliefs and my principles - i'd don't expect everyone to agree with them either, but I like the chance to be able to voice them, which I have done so :nerner:

Hugs to you all :hugs:Life's far too short for bickering. Lets just agree to disagree and all be friends :friends:

This is very very good advice.

Clean hands are no less clean than surgical gloves in my opinion.

Emma...Midwives use gloves not just to protect the mother, but also to protect themselves from any viruses or diseases the mother MAY have that we would be unaware of, such as AIDS, or Hep. I don't understand why you're getting to uptight...we dont use them because they are "cleaner" than hands.

There's a difference between clean and sterile.

People don't use gloves to have sex, or masurbate, or pick their noses...

The vagina is an incredibly complex part of the female anatomy, it's self cleaning and very clever. It will pretty much eject anything it sees as a threat, or try to. Putting a clean capsule up there, with clean hands, is NOT going to kill you.

Amyjayne.......Oh my freaking word. Bet those contractions had a 'pinch' to them lol.

I think I crushed his head between my knees at one point. Not once but 2ce did I endure this! I would go thru labour 10 times rather than have my waters broken!!!!!
