I thought i'd drop you all a line from my sick pit. I had to have keyhole surgery yesterday and am now very high on painkillers ;) My gyno rushed me in because ive been having very painful periods, painful ovulation, painful sex, infact chronic pain in the most weirdest of places. As my mum narrowly dodged cancer 5 months ago (with similar symtoms) my specialist was abit concerned. The good news is that there is no cancer but i have been diagnosed with endometriosis. She told me that this is affecting my fertility but she also burnt alot of old endometriosis away making the next 36 weeks better to conceive  but she stressed that it may take yrs to conceive  Being 33 this is a bit scary.
If anyone here has endometriosis any advice will be gratefully received.
Hope you're all keeping well :D

hey honey, i too have endometriosis, unfortunately I can't really give you much info on how it affects fertility as my hubby has dodgy sperm as well, so don't know how much of our troubles are due to me and how much due to him!

All i do know is that endometriosis doesn't necessarily cause fertility problems for everyone who has it.

Goodluck honey

 My sister has endometriosis. She was diagnosed two years ago. She has had two laparoscopies done so they could remove it. Unfortunately it kept growing back.. anyway, she has been referred to the IVF clinic as they told her that she won't be able to conceive naturally.. Before she was seen by a doctor, she fell pregnant :cheer: She is 7 weeks now :cheer: So don't believe anyone if they tell you that getting pregnant with endometriosis is impossible. My sister is a proof that everything is possible and everyone has a fair chance ... Good luck x

Thanks for all your replies and support ladies  I am so happy for your sister Petra, that is amazing news and yes, it does give me some hope

The laparoscopy wasn't as scary as i thought but they pumped my belly up with gas to give them room to root around and it's the excess gas that is giving me the most pain. I am due to go back for a follow up in the fertility clinic in 4 weeks with my OH so i will keep you updated.
We have ony been trying to conceive for a year but what with our ages and my painful periods i was rushed in. I'm still  that not all is lost.

Thanks again and lots of baby dust to you all

Hi Notty,

I should also mention that my sister changed her doctor in December 07 after he told her that IVF is the only option. Her friend recommended her another doctor who has a great rate of success with treating infertility etc ( our friend was trying to conceive for 6 years and fell pregnant after 3 months since she started seeing this " miracle" doctor :) It took my sister only 2 months to conceive :cheer:

So this shows that it also depends on the treatment you receive from your doctor. Both of them were given Estrogen and Duphaston pills.

You might want to speak to your doctor and see if he can recommend hormonal treatment.

Best of luck and keep us updated xxx
