hi ladies,
i hope you are all well?
to start, i was diagnosed with pcos when i was very young, between 12-14 years old. since ttc (started in may) i have become increasingly consicous of the fact that i have it.
a while ago i had a miscarriage and at a scan just after they told me i have very very mild pcos - yay! but of course i still worry about it so, i asked a doctor just over a month ago if i could have the day 21 test to see if i am ovulating, i had it and when the result came back they told me over the phone it was normal - of course being a crazy ttc'er that wasn't going to be enough info so i asked the receptionist to print my results - big mistake! i tried to work out what it meant and convinced myself they had it wrong and that it wasn't ok - that obscure website told me so!!!
had my appt yesterday to follow it up and apparently the level (whatever that means) should be between 10-80 and i was 29 which is normal - woo hoo i ovulated.
so after that i decided to get some general advice on conception as this doctor specialises in fertility.
she said (as so many BFP'ers have) the best thing is to relax, she said the most fertile period is immediately after AF??? i thought that was a bit mad but i suppose if AF is around 7 days she's not far off.
she said that if you are unwell in any shape or form (i have IBD) the body can stop itself falling preggers as its not in a 'good place'.
next, she told me to stop using OPK's and to just have sex from after AF until about day 20 every other day!? now i know i have been 'bigging up' her fertility specialist claims but i can't give up the OPK's - no way jose!
finally, she told me that if i don't conceive in about 6 months time she will refer me for further testing and possibly IVF!! she said its supposed to be 2 years but doesn't see any point in couples waiting around!! which is good in one way but also tests and issues seem a lot closer now!!! im really not sure if it was a good appt or a bad one lol!!??
