Doctors & Sperm Analysis call

I hoeh you'll find our experience helpful so here goes!

For my OH, it was motility that was the issue - count was excellent but much of this will still stand. He had the analysis done and it was repeated a month later. Results were basically the same. He tried to hide it but of course he was gutted. We got him on conception vitamins, improved our diet and he made an effort to exercise more. He doesn't take much alcohol or caffeine anyway but if he did we would have cut those back too.

We then read that tests should be 3 months apart as that's how long it takes to make sperm. After a bit of a fuss he got another one and it was normal.

We were seen by the lead consultant at the NHS fertility clinic after his initial tests and were aggressively informed that we would never conceive without IVF and there was nothing we could do to improve his sperm The 4 month old sleeping on my lap would argue differently!! It really does only take one! Good luck!!

We are opposite to you then. apparently "great" mortality but low count.
We are going to get them wellmans started asap / tonight! im going to put both me and him on omega 3 (not every day just incase but perhaps every other)
Did you do a big abstitance period when you finally caught? as in when did you try, at +opk? how often etc?

For what it's worth, I'd tried all sorts of supplements etc but by that point we had stripped back to a bog standard multivitamin for him and folic acid/vitamin d for me. That particular month we dtd on the day of positive opk then 2 days later. That was it. We were literally waiting for our consultation to discuss ivf when it happened.

thanks so much for this- so you didnt keep bd thruout the cycle then to make sure sperm was good and not dead etc?
Seeing mine has a low count im considering doing the same now tbh- will be about 6 days abstitance till we try again. ill have to do Friday because away weekend and wont be able to Saturday but can again Sunday. Plan is Friday & Sunday. Unless get a +opk sooner.
