So is it 'normal' a doctor calls to discuss sperm analysis results and pencils in a telephone appointment? (this Wednesday)

They clearly got the results from a letter etc.. but is this potentially something bad? or do all doctors telephone to discuss results?

(we havent had a telephone call like this with any of mine so just wondering.. but also with mine i could read the results online whereas apparently hubbys isnt viewable online as it come as a letter).

Wow that was quick. Is it private ? It may just be what they do with private results for the sperm analysis. Perhaps they need to explain everything the terminology may be hard or misleading.
My partner had his done through Nhs and we were told 2-3 weeks. X

My OH had several sperm tests, all NHS and we were told they'd have results within 2 weeks. The only times he was contacted by the surgery was for those where there were issues (slightly low motility in his case). The samples that were normal, he had to chase the results himself.

I will stress that this is just our experience and different surgeries may do things differently. Good luck!!

Yeh i have a horrible feeling-
I noticed hubbys getting nervous as well can just tell way hes reacted but he tries not to display it as i worry enough for both of us (and more) combined

My OH had to phone up for his results from the GP. He then got a letter sent out. His results were great. It could be that they want to explain what they mean as from memory the results rate three or four things they measure.
I know it’s scary but try and stay positive. Once you have the results you can make decisions and you’ll feel less lost xx

I think my husband was told to call for the results, which I assume would have been that way whatever the results. Maybe if he wasn’t told to call to get the results, this is just how they deliver the results within your practice. Best of luck either way and let us know how he gets on xx

his count has come back bad

10 million but 66% motile

Now got to have a scan of testicles & a repeat.

She recomended:
*no caffeine, good diet and exercise
*wellmans conception pills
*100% rda vitamin c

dont know what to think.

Are they saying change in diet should help improve things? I’m dreading our results xx

Hun
You should look into Maca Root Powder or Capsules.
If you had a google of it, it is REALLY good for sperm count.
My OH has been taking it for about 2 weeks now. x

It’s good that everything else is good. I have heard of sperm count increasing after taking vitamins and a few dietary changes.
My oh is on wellman conception so hoping that helps him x

hi, we been told specifically Not to add any other supplements other then; Wellmans and to make sure getting 100% Vitamin C. I want to add everything and anything all at once im constantly googling what we can add- but i got to try and not act impulsively and do as she says- (really hard!!!) as ive now also read about Omega 3. (wellmans has maca in it so should be fine there).

I dont really know how to change his diet haha, trying to encourage to eat nuts / looking into foods with omega 3 etc etc... not sure what to do!

Diet wise if he isn't already eating - broccoli, asparagus, walnuts, whole wheat, fish (salmon), bananas, spinach.
Dinners that my OH has been having lately is salmon with lots of veg and sweet potato. x

Hi @soffphie it is hard to stick to what advice they give you but they are the experts so good for you.
My only suggestion would be accupuncture as I know that is offered for male fertility too, it’s just no-one ever mentions it. Improves blood flow. And not to put his laptop over his groin as that’s supposedly bad. Your poor hubby must be feeling rubbish, hope you find a way to talk about it without falling out. So stressful. Big hug x

hes in IT so he probably does. He dont seem overally chuffed but playing it down

Does anyone know how possible/impossible conception is with a 10m sperm count?

I can't remember what hubby's results were but they weren't great but when we saw a fertility consultant he wasn't bothered in the slightest! He said it only takes one sperm so unless you literally have no healthy sperm you're in with a chance and we're now pregnant with our second! I'm sure you'll be fine xx

Thank you I really hope this is the case for us, tbh we will only have 1 child this is far to much to go thru again! so once over with ill be so flipping glad!!!

It was really promising he had 66% mortile as i hear 50% is good so he must have been pretty high scoring there, just 10m is pretty low every where i look it says its too low - doctors wanted 30m or 50m i think. Either way his 'testing' now begins. Really so shocked it come to this, all the home ones we did said he was perfect shows how inaccurate they can be and are!
