I voted no.

there are loads of jobs for those willing to work - maybe not in their desired skill, but you just have to look in the job centre.... the only prob is peoples pride comes into doing some jobs...

if I needed a job, I would take anything if it meant I was working and not claiming beneifts.... even cleaning the bogs on the busiest of high streets

I agree with this (and Laetitia85) OH's dad used to manage a fruit picking and packaging factory and they used Eastern European workers simply because no-one living locally wanted to do the work, they get paid the standard minimum wage and get good accomodation too. Same with onion pickers near where my dad lives - all immigrant workers now because they tried recruiting British people and most of them only lasted a day or two before getting fed up. Admittedly it's hardly glamourous but it's not something I would personally mind if I needed the money - I used to do litter picking when I was on holiday from uni.
Aside from agricultural stuff, there are always tons of vacancies for care work in the papers, they had to get in Filipino workers etc, as they struggled to recruit, and the pay is often higher than minimum wage too.

There's no point trying to argue against it because it is true. The British empire owned 3/4 of the known world at one point, treating the native inhabitants as less than scum. yet we seem to have learned no lessons, as still we begrudge those less fortunate than ourselves the benefits of this country which their ancestors broke their backs to create.

I guess you've summed up everything I've been trying to put accross but in a better, more intellectual manner!!!

According to the published list a BNP member lives here. I can assure you that if anything happens to my home the 'scum' that does it will very much regret it.

I think a lot of beliefs are rubbish (most beliefs in fact!) but just because I dont agree with them, and never will doesn't make them scum it just makes them different to me.

You have just called my daughter's grandfather 'scum' which I find really offensive (I dont think I need to justify that!).

To be honest the BNP really offend me, everything about them I find offensive, I would be disgusted to find out any of my relations and friends were a member of the BNP.

So would I. And I think that with their policies and ideals, the BNP are offending many more people than those who will be affected by this leak of personal info. (Not that I would want anything to happen to anyone), but I'm looking at the bigger picture. What the BNP stands for is very offensive in itself.

No. I wouldn't vote BNP. I do not agree with their policies or outlook on life. Of the BNP supporters that I have ever had the misfortune of being acquainted with, they appear to be narrow minded, uneducated individuals whom have nothing better to do with their time than join the band wagon & have a problem with people of who are different.
Personally, I believe it is because they are maybe too uneducated to understand different cultures and ways of life and have no other knowledge about the world. As zebra stripes pointed out, the British.... coloniolism & slavery...come on who are we to judge? In fairness, we probably owe some of these people an easy life as a form of apology for years gone by and what their families went through... yes a very far fetched notion but then isn't the idea of supporting the BNP the same?

My husband isn't British and yes he works here & I have no problem with that whatsoever. Are we being judgemental to anyone who isn't British or just for those outside of the EU? How many of you have ever thought about retiring somewhere in the sun, as Beanie said, a move to Australia and how many of you know ex pats or of someone who has moved away and works in their new homeland?

I find a lot of it hypocracy to be honest.

Tis a shame a few have tried to get there little PERSONAL digs in on this thread, other than that i've found it really interesting to read.

And I can kind of see where Jade is coming from. Well in a small way. My Nana came out with the statement the other week 'next time i'm voting BNP'.... is she an ogre..evil... nazi?? Nope she's not. She's my lovely nan but like some she's ignorant at times and rather than fully reading their policies she just thinks of people losing jobs and blames it on immigration and then thinks the BNP will solve all those issues without considering the consequences... do I love my Nan any less. Nope. I can't but I do see that she's ignorant and not very well educated to be even thinking that way. Anyway no one jump on my nan.. not cos i'll smack you one in face ( ) but cos she'd probably do it herself (think nan from catherine tate show and you got it)


And I agree with those pointing out about britons moving abroad. It's ok for us to go work in Spain for the summer and steal the spaniards jobs for the summer months, we can move all over the world and take jobs but how dare THEY come here
