what are you all doing about planning xmas? my lo is due on 17th December but if he's a week late i'll be in hospital with my legs in the air screaming murder whilst everywhere else the Turkey is being served up

we spend one year at my family, the next at my OH's family. last year for the first time we had it at home.

so this year we are 'due' to go to his family - and i guess they are all thinking how exciting this is going to be with a new baby. but part of me is thinking i might not want to go anywhere!!

am i the only mad one thinking about this yet :oooo:

Im due Boxing Day and so hope I go at the beginning of Dec! We are planning to have all my OH'S children for the Xmas period so it cld go horribly wrong if I go to term. Also, due to my BP medication Ive already been told the baby and I wont be discharged for at least 24hrs :-S

Shockingly OH and I have never spent an Xmas together! I go to my mums and he goes to his. This year (being due Xmas eve) were going to stay at home (have a feeling that'll mean 'popping' over to his mums as she lives close) but if baby's not here I don't want to go anywhere at all as the hosp is 10 mins from our house. Also the last thing I want is to go into labour in front of all his family

I have accepted the invite to go to my sisters this year. Most of my family will be there too. I normally avoid it because it get pretty chaotic but I'm just glad not to be cooking this year. We normally invite DH's Nan for Xmas dinner. Kind of relieved that we are getting out of it this year because the past 2 years she's eaten to much rich food and thrown uo for 2 hours....oh the joy....

I'm due mid Jan, so all going well, I should be ok at Christmas, but it will be interesting to see what it's like when the baby is here and both grandparents want us round!

We usually go to my parents first, then OH's in the afternoon. Assume we'll stick with that.

Just do whatever you feel comfortable with hun  You'll be pooped by then, so it's important you'll be comfortable. Are both sets of parents in London? They could always pop over to you :)

It was un-frikin-believable. Only consolation is that she did it to DH's uncle on Boxing Day. They never invite her for Xmas even though she's in her 90's but they'll have to this year.

I don't normally celebrate Christmas, I hate it :( so I have no idea what will be happening this year as it'll be our first as a couple and I have no idea how his family like to celebrate it.... this realisation makes me really sad :( ..

This is something I've been thinking about a lot! We tend to go to my parents for breakfast, then see my OHs parents in the afternoon and then have dinner at ours so a busy day! (OHs mum expects us to go to his sisters to see her kids but as she refuses to leave their house we refuse to go round, a bit selfish I know but necessary!) OH and I were talking about xmas the other day and decided that we'd quite like a quiet day just the two of us (or three of us if LO is here). If LO is here we'll probably say people can come to us for a bit but we won't be leaving the house!

Ninja I feel you pain although no sick involved! We had my nan down from london one xmas at my parents, she was down for 2 days, complained she was ill and insisted we took her home - on xmas day! We had a 4hr drive to take her back! x x x

OH and I are having our first christmas in our own house together it's only been 8 years lol! We normally fly back to visit family but this year as LO will be here I hope, (I soooooo hope I won't still be pregnant on Christmas day) just my mum is coming over to stay with us so I'm really looking forward to getting to know baby and just chilling really with our little family. I expect Jan may be quite busy as visitors may start arriving but at least then we should have got used to everything a bit ) I work in a hospital so normally work Christmas or one of the surrounding days so this year I'll be soo miffed if I still end up in hospital when I've managed to get it off from work lol!

it took me and OH five years to spend xmas together  we used to do the same as you. xx

I was thinking about this after I posted and I have to admit I got excited about Christmas for the first time in years! My best friend has three sprogs and they get sooo excited about father christmas coming! It's lovely ^_^ and I can't wait to have that now! I'm going to make Christmas amazing for my LO, I was just on a silly downer before but now I can see how much better it's going to be with my own little family to share it with :D xx

I'm in the same boat as you Pos. I'm due 14th Dec and we normally do one year at his family's and the next at mine. This year we are due to go to his but i have put my foot down a bit and said that we are going to mine as i think it would be much easier to have the help of my parents with the baby being so young (as i'm high risk they won't allow me to go over the 14th Dec so think if it hasn't happened naturally by then i will be induced so baby will only be a maximum of 10days old). Luckily my hubby is fine with that and totally understands. We will prob go to his the year after or have it at home and invite his family around. I think that i'm entitled to be a bit selfish and do what i would prefer since i would have only just given birth! xxx

Hi PinkyPrincess,

this is exactly the same as me and my OH, we never come to an agreement about xmas and so we spend boxing day together and have christmas day seperately. Im absolutely dreading xmas from now on though!! i cant imagine not spending xmas day with my family and having to travel an hour to go see his family!! how awful of me!!
