So cross right now. Just got phone call from work to say I've been summonsed to court on Friday about an incident that happened Jan 2011. If the case was genuine it wouldn't b so bad but woman is chancing her arm at a claim. I have breast fed baby here and I have to go to court over something stupid. Ok I can express but that's not the point here.

Ok rant over!!

Can they give you such short notice? That's ridiculous!! X

I thought so too. Have to phone union solicitor helpline and see what they say.

Hope they help you out hun. I think to tell you only 3 days before you need to go is ridiculous!! Hardly a decent amount of time to organise somebody to have LO or to express enough for LO too! (sorry not saying you don't have enough expressed milk, just in general)

I don't think I should have to go. I'm off on maternity with a breast fed baby. I do have expressed in freezer but thats not the point. DH comin off nite shift that morning and wouldnt b happy keeping baby, sister working and my mum is looking after her LO. So technically no one to look after baby. Hopefully Union can tell me something tomorro.

Hopefully you can get out of it. It doesn't seem right that they can make you do this when you've not long had a baby and are breastfeeding. I'd explain to them that it's impossible for you to arrange childcare. Hope you get it sorted and don't have to attend.

Why do you need to go to court? Is it because you are a solicitor or something similar? x

If only!! I'm receptionist in leisure centre. Winter before last customer came to me and said she had fallen on ice in car park. She didn't make formal complaint, said she was fine and went to use facilities of centre. Now shes making claim for her injuries!!!! Because I'm only one she spoke to about her fall I'm being called as witness even though i didn't see it happen.

Nightmare! Wouldn't her leisure centre card have been used on that day so as she could use the facilities? Surely that would prove that she was fine and able to move around okay?

That and CCTV.
I'm out of the loop bout it all. It happened the day before I had mmc confirmed last year so I was off for month at that time. Then I heard nothing til bout 2 months before due date when I got phone call to tell me I had to go court 2 days before due date - AS IF!!!

That's ridiculous, I hope you can get out of it as 3 days notice isn't much. Plus surely if she used the facilities after she had fallen then she can't have been injured? She's just chancing her arm.

Hope you get sorted hun x

Can you not just go and take baby with you (and someone to look after them) my experience of this kind of thing is that they don't keep you waiting, especially if it is made known you have a baby with you.

I think you should be able to send in a statement to the court, although don't quote me on it. If not, the case would have to be adjourned.

I have sent statement.

Case had been adjourned from June.

Spoke to union adviser this morning. He said to get written confirmation from work that I'm required to go. Basically anyway if I'm needed I have to go. As DH will be coming off nightshift he's gonna come too and bring LO cos he's afraid if they stay home and baby goes to sleep he'll sleep too and not hear him wakening. Hopefully we'll not be kept long.

So landed in court at 9.50 this morning and got home at 5 this evening. Absolutely raging. I had better things to do than sit there all day for 5 mins in witness box. Left 3 bottles for LO and got home just in time for him to b fed. Don't know who had most relief - him for gettin booby or me for gettin pressure released lol

Thats ridiculous that you were there so long! At least it's over, what's the outcome for the woman?

Don't know what outcome was as I left court as soon as I was finished Bd they still had 5 witnesses on our side to interview. At a guess she got money. Our health and safety officer told me he could have settled ages ago for very little £££ which everyone else felt he should have done, even the legal team. He was just too stubborn.

I hope work paid you a full days wage x

I'll b making sure they do. Pays get put thru on monday so will give them a phone tomorro. Also got mileage and lunch to claim ;-)
I think they should pay me for extra time that LO was up last nite cos he was all out of his normal wee routine for the day even though he was home with his daddy lol

Quick update - our side won the case. Judge heard one more witness after me and then said he'd heard enough :-)
