Silly question time but what blankets does one buy for the cot and moses basket? i have various baby fleece blankets that friends have brought me but no other types of blanket. is this what peope use now? would these be used with a sheet underneeth or is there a special type of blanket to use like a wool one? also where can i get a good cot matress from?

Many thanks

I found that the cotton cellular blankets like the hospital use, actually keep them warmer than the fleece ones cos the air can circulate around the holes and they dont overheat, I use a couple of moses/pram blankets but also a big cot one folded up, did try and use sheets too but she kept getting tangled in them so just use one one the bottom xx

I have also bought cellular and cotton blankets, think these are meant to be better than fleecey ones for younger babies. Although I would be happy to use a fleece blanket for the pushchair/car seat etc. Have you tried mothercare for mattresses? They have a variety of sizes and different types for various costs.

over both cot and moses basket I got fitted sheets for on the bottom and since I only used the moses basket at the end of the summer I used a cotton sheet and occassionally a blanket but now for in his cot Otis just wears a sleeper suit and his baby gro - which is enough to keep him warm (I do have a sheet at hand just incase it gets really cold. But if you're going to use gro bags I won't worry to much about blankets for in babas cot and probably even the moses basket.
