What do contractions feel like?

Ive not had braxton hicks, and I'm a first timer so I have no idea what a contraction even feels like!

Ive had my 3rd sweep today and I'm getting tightening in my Lower stomach, not painful just uncomforable, I can feel it in my lowe back as well, not sure if it's just baby though??

Could be gearing up. They can start as a mild cramp, period pain. But when they ramp up a gear, you'll know they've changed. The text book is, your tummy goes hard, with intense pain, whoch can start off mild, with like a build up that you can feel coming, then tapers off again. Can come from your back and wrap around your front. Can feel like pressure. And everyone is so so differernt, if you feel like you're getting tummy pains, coming in waves and hurting. I'd pay attention to them and ring hospital if they don't go away. Keep moving around and if they stay, nothing will matter if they're the real deal. good luck! Hope this is it! X

That is exactly how my labour started then a few hours later I really knew it had started Good luck hun xx

What Sugar said! You'll definitely know contractions cus you'll feel them right up your torso, either back or fromt.

There not contractions then, it's only my lower back and abdomen and it's not painful as such just uncomforable like period cramps! xxx

I was induced with gel and a sweep - the first sign I had was backache and this developed into full blown contractions only a few hours later. Fx for you xx

Mine actually felt like bowel spasms and I didn't know they were contractions for ages! Everyone's different.
