Hi everyone!

Sorry if this question is a bit personal but I was just wondering what you were doing for contraception now if anything? My lo is 10 weeks old now, I've been taking cerazette for just under a month, had a period just before I started taking it, then another a week into taking it and now I'm having another one! What is going on? I'm bf, can anyone recommend an alternative method? The coil is a definite no.

Thanx :) xxx

Aww no, that's not good. I'm a hormonal wreck anyway lol. I blame it on little sleep for the past 10 weeks and feeding lo every two hours day and night still!

Ah okay, will just have to go back to the doctors. I'm not having a period every 2 weeks... I'm sure there's injections and implants as well, just don't really know what is compatible with bf and has no horrible side effects...

Xxxxx

Yep sorry the implant and injection are both hormonal (so in the same category as the pill)

The only non hormonal methods are condoms, copper coil or taking your chances

I've heard nasty things about the coil... cramps, heavy bleeding! Sometimes your partner can 'feel it'... xxxxx

I've had several coils over the past ten years, in between every pregnancy really!
I have the copper coil, so no hormones!
No cramps, no abnormal bleeding and no my partner can't feel it.
Don't listen to horror stories (or me for that matter!) why not try for yourself and if its not for you it can be taken out in under 5 seconds!
Coils are fabulous x

I am getting more and more tempted by the coil I must confess.

Hate being back on the pill, I want to eat / kill everything / everyone

xxxxxx

How does it work if it has no hormones?

The copper reacts against the sperm and the coil being in position does not allow an egg to settle in the uterus x

Ooh!.. So nothing to mess with your body then! I just don't know if I'm up to having more people poking around down there... I can't even bring myself to dtd yet since labour! Lol so I guess for now abstaining is my most reliable contraception lol. Xxx

I started taking cerazette but stopped after 8 weeks, as I was bleeding constantly. I decided not to take any more hormones, as I didnt want to put any more hormones in my body - I have enough already! x

I wonder why it does that? It's so annoying, I was told I probably wouldn't even have a period with it! How wrong was she! Xxx

That's why I won't put hormones into my body, they are too unpredictable. What works for some will act completely different for someone else! x

I think we will.be going down barrier contraception route as i am BF and dont want to risk diminishing my supply. Or abstinence indeed

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

Cerazette states on its website that it does not affect milk supply and I'm pretty certain they wouldn't write that unless they were 100% sure. My only issue is the constant period! Yes it's true that I didn't have one the whole time I was pregnant but it's not really fair to play catch up lol xxx

I had the exact same problem and lasted about 4 months on it! I've been on many pills but cerazette is by far the worst with the constant bleeding! Abstinence is working for me now! Lol x

I was on Cerazette and breastfeeding, but have stopped Cerazette as I want to start TTC and I had no AF at all and wanted to see if AF would return (she has now). Plus cerazette kills my libido. In fact, any hormonal birth control kills it so after I'm done with baby no.2 I might try the copper coil or my poor OH will get nothing from me at all. Doesn't harm to try it, I think. x

I joining this thread too.
Def dont want any more babies. I will be sterilised later but need something in between. Reluctant to go on pill as the only one I've got on with is Yasmin and that's combined and I'm Breastfeeding.
I've tried the mirena and it made me feel very poorly.
I don't know whether to try the copper coil. Like the idea of no hormones too.

Sorry if tmi but me and OH like quite rough sex, do you think that would irritate the coil?

I am not keen on the coil because i think my body will.reject it. I cant even wear jewelry, i.react with swelling straight away.

BM, I have a similar problem but its barrier methods i am afraid will be failing. I know women say you can feel the threads but not the actual coil? I would think a man would be able to feel.threads if they stick.out if the cervix?

Not that we have sex anymore but my oh never felt the threads :) xx
