I was just wondering if anyone else had been thinking about what contraception they are going to use once baby is born. I really don't want to fall pregnant too soon after (ideally like to leave it 4 years or so) so been thinking about what is the best method for me to use. All condoms seem to irritate me even non latex ones. I was going to go on the pill but I know its not the most reliable (as I was conceived while my mum was on the pill!) My second thought was the coil or the injection but I know a few people who bleed constantly with the injection.

Oh I just don't know! Would like to know if you ladies had anything in mind??

I had a coil for 10 years and it never gave me a problem.

I think I will be going back to this after baby but I am not sure yet.

Hey! I was going to go back on the pill but then it's likely to stop my periods again so I'm not going to use anything hubby will just have to use a johnny and be done with it!! Lol

absolutely nothing. i want another and having a brother thats only 18 months younger than me was brilliant. were close and get on so well. id like that for my LO.

I am going to start using my patches. I love them best one for me. I don;t have to eat pills or having nasty injections, or have a coil fitted. I just change it once a week until I have a break on the 4th week.

Plus I've had no side effects, also I choose to start trying for another baby soon after going on it, took two months :) best form for me.

Have you thougt about the implant. I had 2 of them before we started TTC. they last for 3 years and are meant to be one of the most reliable methods.

Some people have side effects similar to injection - like increase bleeding - but if its bad u just get implant taken out. My periods stopped pretty much the whole time i was on them. I'd def recommend it if you want something long term.
xxx

We're just going to be carefull the first months and than Ntnp. My hubby has low sperm count so we will take what we can get:) I want my little girl to have siblings!

I don't think we are going to bother with contraception either it's taken us so long to get this far with all the fertility problems we have had over the last 15 years so If I fall pregnant again it won't be an issue and I know my DH would love more than one LO

Well I'm going to have do something I started taking the pill after my LO but it doesn't agree with me at all I didn't like the way I felt on it! I'm going to research the coil but the one without hormones as I hate putting hormones into my body and clearly condoms don't work ;-)

Depending on labour as to whether I let him anywhere near me again to be honest lol

I can't take the pill cos of family history of blood clotting. Don't like condoms cos they put the OH off and we have to start again . A few of my friends have had the injection and turned into psycho's and my body seems to hate anything foreign in it and I always get infections so coil and implant are out too

Roll on baby number 2 lmao.....or a convent lol xxxxxxxxx

havnt even thought that far ahead.
my docs really good im sure she will give me some advice.
we do want no2 close to this one. say 12-18months but thats it then. no more.
I cant use condoms and buying latex free ones are soooo expensive.
i was on mini pill for 5 yrs, then changed to another one i could have a brake with. after 6 months on that stoped. and got caught 2 months after came off. sooo might have to use somthing inbetween them.

Whats the patches???? Never heard of them. x

I'm planning on going back onto Cerazette, mainly because they help stop the pain from my endo, not so fussed about protection as it took 2 years and lots of cutting down on food to get preggo. Like you, I would rather leave it until LO is school age before trying for another xx

Evra transdermal patch,

To achieve maximum contraceptive effectiveness, patients must be advised to use EVRA exactly as directed. For initiation instructions see 'How to start EVRA' below.
Only one patch is to be worn at a time.
Each used patch is removed and immediately replaced with a new one on the same day of the week (Change Day) on Day 8 and Day 15 of the cycle. Patch changes may occur at any time on the scheduled Change Day. The fourth week is patch-free starting on Day 22.
A new contraceptive cycle begins on the next day following patch-free week; the next EVRA patch should be applied even if there has been no bleeding or if bleeding has not yet stopped.
Under no circumstances should there be more than a 7-day patch-free interval between dosing cycles. If there are more than 7 patch-free days, the user may not be protected against pregnancy. A non-hormonal contraceptive must then be used concurrently for 7 days. As with combined oral contraceptives, the risk of ovulation increases with each day beyond the recommended contraceptive-free period. If intercourse has occurred during such an extended patch-free interval, the possibility of fertilisation should be considered.

Thanks for explaining hun. From what I read it look like you need a regular cycle and I really really don't. lol

No I don't have a regular one, always been a month + a week, that week would be when I came on. Sometime more. So gald once I want on patch it sorted all that out. You just wait for next preiod slap patch on first day of bleed. Then do the 3 on 1 off. x
