Cold & Flu @ 8-12dpo = BFPs?

Hello all,

I have read that cold/flu symptoms at 8-12dpo can often lead to BFPs! I'm currently 9dpo (so FF tells me, though could be more like 12dpo according to temps) and I have had a stinking cold for the past few days. And I mean like fluey, achey, horrible - like nothing I've ever really experienced before. That combined with cramps on both sides and a teeny tiny spot of pink blood when checking CP/CM yesterday has got me thinking... and hoping, of course!

So I wondered if any BFPers have experienced this? And if any other ladies in waiting are experiencing anything like this? Please let me know!

I'm not 100% sure dpo as I had a long cycle last month but usuall I'm regular so I think I'm maybe 10dpo. I've got awful cramps and feel flu like since yesterday. I've got my fingers crossed. Waiting until weekend to test

with all my pregnancies I've had a blocked nose and/or a sore throat in the 2ww. Fx for you!

Both my pregnancies I've had a stinking cold from 7/8 Dpo and it lasted about 2 weeks! Apparently it's something to do with your immune system slowing down to protect the embryo?? Who knows. Fingers crossed for you!

Brilliant thanks ladies for all your responses and support! Sounds promising! 10 months TTC after coming off the pill Sept 2016 but this is first month temping and OPKing so think we timed it right! AF due on Sunday so going to try and resist the 'HPT cupboard' until then if poss. Will monitor temps and other symptoms and keep you posted TTC1234, fingers crossed for us both this month! Okay so this morning (10dpo/possibly 13dpo) temps are still a fair bit above cover line (0.7) but are very slightly declining... My cold/flu has turned a very tight cough but I'm starting to bring stuff up (sorry TMI) rather than it be the 'dry' cough that it was. I've looked this up and this means that immune system is fighting apparently... Not sure whether it's a good sign or not! Either way I am thankfully feeling MUCH better than I have done the past few days! Still head-achey and stuffy but I can actually function, which is nice Anyone else experienced similar?

Cramping in left side mostly this morning... And gassy (nothing new there) no spotting ... However, also noticed an ummmm 'airy' fanny! haha. Sorry if TMI but I've never been gassy out of my 'front bottom' before! Could that be a symptom too?



Also continually getting creamy CM (only dried up on CD17 - possible day after O, and on CD22). CM has been creamy past O otherwise. And today, frequent urination. Never been a big wee-er, usually forget to wee, in fact! But this morning I have weed a lot! And haven't had much fluid intake. Must remember to replace

Well AF is due Sunday (CD29) ... However, this time last month I had spotted for 3 days already and came on really heavy on CD27 - which will be tomorrow... So. I was going to wait until Sunday if possible. But if nothing happens tomorrow, then I MIGHT test tomorrow. I'm just scared of the BFN.... What about you Ttc1234?

I'm currently pregnant with my first and have not experienced any cold/flu symptoms. However I have read in countless different places that A LOT of women suffer from cold/flu symptoms when they first fall pregnant so this could definitely be a key sign for you that something is happening!

I am going to test Friday evening I think if af hasn't arrived! No I'm not charting temp or doing ovulation tests. I never when ttc my first - we just did the deed every 2/3 night and that worked so I'm going with the same strategy on the hope it works again. I don't want to become too fixated on ttc - the 2ww is hard enough (if u know what I mean) other half already thinks I'm half daft going on about wanting to be preggers lol

Mariexo, congrats on your pregnancy!!! How far along are you? Any BFP symptoms we might be able relate to? Thank you for your baby dust!!!

Right now I'm feeling HEAVY. Bloated, constipated and crampy, but not AF crampy. I feel like she might be coming but I NEVER get constipated. I'm usually very regular! haha. Just been out for a cycle and have come back feeling like sh*te, like my cold is back all over again haha - maybe proof that exercise is, in fact, BAD for you!

Ttc1234, you have got it the right way there girl - all this obsessing with temps and OPKs is so confusing and stressful! I'm doing it because it's taken me ages to get anywhere after coming off the pill. So I think it's important to know what my bod is doing. I've spent 14 years preventing pregnancy - I hope it doesn't take me that bloody long to promote it !! Haha. But when ttc #2 just go with what you know! Friday is not far away! Only just 4 weeks pregnant with my first. I had spotting friday then the first symptom I noticed was waking up at 3 am saturday morning absolutely boiling hot, shaky and I felt hung over, like I'd drank a bottle of wine the night before but I obviously hadn't. I then got my first BFP saturday morning. Since then I've woken up around the same time every night with a similar feeling and just feeling a bit hung over each day and some slight cramping. Last couple of days I've been really gassy, actually farted out load at work! So embarrassing!

Okay girls I need help. Woke this morning after a night of vivid dreaming (classic PMS/AF symptom for me) to find one big spot of FRESH pink/red blood (thin) when wiping. Sat and cried. Thought this is it - AF has arrived.

Then nothing. I have tender underarms, neck-ache, and I'm still coughing and sneezing, my temps are still above cover line. Yet, I now feel like I'm out this month after being SO sure that this was different! That we had timed everything perfectly! After 10 months TTC I really thought this was our month ... but I'm now CD27 and my AF symptoms are there: e.g. spotting(?) emotional, vivid dreams. I'm due on CD29 and chances are I will spot until then and then she will come full flow. Last month I spotted for 3 days prior to an early AF on CD27.

The only difference is, is that this was FRESH blood this morning. Not brown spotting like usual - Also NO cramping today as yet, but still some funny twinges in my sides and back... I'm clutching at straws but could this be implantation bleeding? I'm too scared to test. I don't want to see that BFN

Sparrow, first of all - CONGRATS on the BFP! Please can you tell me when you spotted? What cycle day? And when AF would have been due? Also, did you chart?

Ttc1234, any news on your end?

Ladies - Any thoughts? I feel gutted. How can it be so hard when I know I'm ovulating, I'm having regular periods, I'm relatively young and healthy, having regular sex at the right times, and my man's bits work fine!! It's just not fair!!

Any thoughts would be much appreciated and I'll keep you all updated with today's happenings. Oh just stay away you horrible witch!!!!

Wow! I've just re-read my morning post! What an emotional wreck I was haha! Sorry ladies...

Well... After all that... Nothing has happened since this morning! No cramping, no spotting, no anything. The cold persists, but that's it. Weird. Still think AF is probably around the corner, but I feel much less 'scary, crazy person' about the whole thing and much more 'philosophical' about it: If she comes, she comes...... But she hasn't come yet.

So I'm still in the game for now. But able to be realistic as well ... But I can't seem to shake this cold at all, which is strange for me.

How's everybody else getting on?

First of all you're not out till af arrives
I didn't think your post this morning sounded emotional, ttc is a difficult and stressful time for anyone, we all get a bit emotional about things when we want something so badly.
I have a friend, she married very young and was ttc from being about 18/19, took her about 3 years. She became obsessed, a bit manic about it. Then one day she told me she was giving up. Then her and her husband booked a week away. A couple of weeks after she got back she found out she was pregnant! She's just had her third. I think it took over her life so much that ironically that's what actually stopped her becoming pregnant, then when she relaxed it happened. Not saying this is you at all, you don't seem manic in the slightest, I suppose my point is it will happen, it just may take time x

Hi Lish

I completely sympathise with you, it's so hard trying to second guess your body! I had spotting on CD24/25, which was 9/10DPO for me. I have been charting my BBT and took ovulation tests so I'm confident about the dates. The BFP I got on 10DPO was extremely faint and I didn't get a positive on a digital test until 13DPO.

Well looks like we're all in the same boat and just waiting. No AF yet. Wren83 - You are spot on - I bet most women get pregnant when they least expect it - being relaxed is so important. My back twinges have been on and off, and on both sides. Again, not like AF 'heavy, crampy back' feeling... more twingey! Also twinging in left side again this evening... How about you? Still in the game?

Sparrow - thanks for your support and info - it keeps us going! 13DPO isn't far away for me - Saturday, in fact
