I really am addicted lol...

Right wots people views on drinking coke ? Cos when I had my son I was told by my midwife to drink no coke atall, and then at hospital was told coke could help with my sickness...
So anyway did my research a you can have 200mg caffeine, this would mean 6 and a quarter cans of coke. Ie alreay had one today but I'm really craving another is this just me being selfish? The figures say it isn't going to hurt the baby but I can't help but feel its still bad?

Thanks x

If its any help hun, i used to buy the caffeine free stuff, its no different in taste to diet which i drink anyway co i hate the taste of original coke xxx

My piece of shit galaxy ace

Ah I didn't even know this existed ill have to have a look.. It's like drinking 2 cans is still less than having a cup of coffee which I'm sure many women will do, i don't drink coffe or tea or eat much chocolate lol this is my one great pleasure lmao x

I've been drinking full fat fizzy in tri1 as was struggling with a lot of foods and sickness, at a 24 week scan they said baby had big tummy, it takes all my sugar, consultant said 'sugar is evil' lol still trying to cut back :(

I drunk loads it was the only thing that didnt give me indigestion. I felt guilty about ur tho. I read somewhere that there is something in diet coke you shouldnt have when pg. I love the asda diet caffeine free coke tho.

You will always get conflicting opinions about things like this. I am not a fan of full sugar coke as I think six teaspoons of sugar is not healthy for anyone to have in one sitting. I have seen people on her rant about the evils of diet coke (and diet drinks in general).

I am still drinking a little Pepsi Max, not as much as I was consuming before my BFP by far though. I asked my doctor about diet drinks and she told me it was better for me than non diet ones, and was fine as long as I stayed within my caffeine limits (but I was in diabetic clinic!!). Perhaps you need to think about your current weight, how much you want to put on, and your chances of getting Gestational Diabetes, then decide if you want to carry on drinking the full sugar, swap to diet or cut it out altogether

Cutting back on coke has been hard for me, i do think its like an addiction. Before i found out i was pregnant i was drinking at least 2 litres a day. Now i only have the odd glass, but i really do miss it :(.x

Gestational Diabeties is diabetes occuring only while you are pregnant. It generally occurs poast the 25 week mark and ladies who are overweight, have had it in the past or have diabetes in the immediate family are usually tested for it at about 28 weeks.

No offence to you but I am totally gobsmacked that your weight is that low whilst drinking all that full sugar coke, do you live on Salad otherwise???

No i don't eat salad atall, I've always been between 7 stone 3/4 and 8 stone Exept in my first pregnancy when I went up to 10 stone. I do not really do anything to be this weight I don't watch what I eat or go to the gym. I do a lot of exersize but that's running about after kids, school runs etc

I've quit all caffeine and aspartame. Which means the caffeine free Coke is out. :( Boo.

I'm sure a can or two would be fine though. I'm just paranoid!!

I drank it all the way through my first pregnancy, as log as I didn't go over the 2 liter of coke Your allowed.. I never got close like.. I'm a lot more paranoid this time round.. X

Stick some water in the fridge, you get so much refreshment from cold water, I find anyway, much better for baby

You can also (I read) cause gestational diabetes by consuming too much sugar

A friend of mine got gestational diabetes with all 3 of her pregnancies. It got worse with each pregnancy. She had big babies (the 3rd would've been 11lb + if he wasn't delivered early!) and she told me that the first thing baby will take from anything you eat is the sugar. It kind of scared me into not taking on too much sugar during pregnancy however my sugar levels can dip very quickly anyway so I have to have some sugar (usually a glass of coke or a glass of ribena) or I get dizzy. I actually fainted due to a sugar drop when I was 14wkspregnan with Jack in the middle of a busy shopping centre lol I don't think there's anything wrong with the odd glass of coke so if you want it then go for it x

Thanks my first pregnancy I drank coke and he came out at 5lb 2oz so I'm not worried abit that part just felt like I was doing wrong .. I suppose with everything moderation is fine x
