At last Clark has arrived, he was born at T+15 by emergency C section after a horrific 3 day induction and labour but I would do it again tomorrow to feel the way I feel right now!!!!!!!!!

Whilst my pictures load on photobucket, here is a quick run over the highlights (not really the appropriate word) of our birth story.

We went in for induction on Monday night (08-10-07) and after being monitored for 2 hours finally got our first dose of prostin at 10.30pm, nothing kicked in straight away so the midwife kept telling Brad to go home and get some sleep, he really didn't want to but she kept on so he went about 1am and by 4am I had started to contract so I called him back (complete waste of time him going in the first place).

Anyway, although I had contractions I didn't dilate at all so we had a second dose of prostin on tuesday morning and they told me if nothing happened the next one would be 24 hours later on Wednesday!

By Tuesday Evening nothing had changed just more mild contractions so Brad went home again and I settled in to the fact we would both get a nights sleep. Then all through the night the contractions were stronger but very irregular so I still didn't sleep much but by the time Brad came back on the Wednesday I had had my show and the consultant decided that I had dilated enough for them to artificially rupture the membranes. All we had to do was wait for a bed on the delivery suite (bearing in mind this was the morning!)

We were finally taken to the delivery suite at around 8pm  where they gave me gas and air and broke my waters, we then had 2 hours for the contractions to really establish themselves before I had to be given the drip so as soon as they were done monitoring we paced around the hospital like a couple of lost souls but still nothing!!!

I cant remember what time they started the drip but they recomended that they get my epidural in at the same time as the contractions would come thick and fast and I am really glad they did! Even with the epidural working ok, I was still having to top up with gas and air every time it came close to an epidural top up. Then with each top up it seemed to work less and less until I became completely dependant on the gas and air..............

At this point I think Clarks heartbeat was becoming irregular, so the did a scratch test on his head to see if his blood had enough oxygen, which hurt like hell and the results were inconclusive so they had to do it again. I remember faling to bits when they told me and Brad trying to console me but i just hid my face and told them to get on with it as long as I could have the gas and air!

I think the results came back unsure again, I will have to check with Brad?

From there on in it gets a little hazy, I remember being told to push and Brad really trying to encourage me, I remember telling them all I was F'ing trying and I was pushing as hard as I could, I remember them trying to take the gas away and I remember them pulling the gas from me to get me to sign the consent form for them to perform the c-section!

Next thing I can recall is flash backs of everyone changing into scrubs and Brad being told to hurry up and get ready to go in to theatre, I can recall the panic and it makes me cry just thinking about how Brad must have felt!!!!

After that I remember being wheeled into theatre, having to be lifted onto the bed and asking where Brad was, they told me he was changing but before long they told me he wouldn't be able to come in because I needed to be put to sleep, by this point I remember begging them to do it faster. The midwives told me afterwards that I ripped the anasthetic out of my arm which is why it took so long!! Anyway I remember them telling me they were going to put pressure on my throat and I would be asleep soon! and thats it................ the rest I dont remember!

So then, the next thing, I recall being wheeled back to the delivery suite and them stripping me off to put Clark on my chest, Brad was there dressed in scrubs and I could already see he was besotted with Clark, it turns out they had been together alone for an hour or more whilst they stiched me up and Brad had been through hell for at least half an hour before that whilst he had to wait on his own!!

I still had my oxygen mask on and thigs strapped to me everywhere but I remember a feeling of utter serenity and crying my eyes out with happiness!!!! Wierd huh!!!!!!!

From there on things got gradually clearer and our lives fell into place over the next few days untill we got to come home yesterday which was utter bliss!!!!!!!!

So much for highlights .............. I think I got carried away but Brad has just got up so I will add the pictures and be off for some family time :cheer: .

Sorry if I have scared anyone but it really doesnt get that bad very often! And no matter what happens its more than worth it in the end!!!!!!! My son is now asleep over my shoulder with his little mouth wide open and I love him more than I ever deemed possible!

Shell, don't be daft, I am just sorry I couldn't reply!

Unfortunately because of the section I now cant drive for 6 weeks ( ) but I am still dying to see Ryan so we will have to sort something out!! x

it's crazy you ended up have a c section.. we'll find a way :) i'll see if i can get nat to drive us down to you on a weekend day, or we can play around with public transport. i've started driving lessons again but not likely to be driving anytime in the next few weeks lol.

Even if you managed to pass your test in super quick time I am not sure I would want you to jump straight on the M42 with Ryan hehe!!!!! x
