I think it's traditionally 2 sets so 2 x godmothers and 2 x godfathers

Traditionally for a girl is 2 Godmothers and 1 godfather and for a boy 2 godfathers and one godmother think that you can generally choose yourself though.

We are currently attending church in prep for Harry's christening (he will be catholic) and we can have 2 of each.
Not sure for any other religion though!
