I have 2 cats, they are now 3.5 years old. The baby has been totally fine with them, no allergies what so ever! I think being born with the animals in the house is better than being introduced at a later date.

One of them, Murphy, is now her BFF, she's always climbing on him and showing him her toys and "petting" (ok, well braining) him ;)

thats good to know thanks guys im just a total worrier i panicked when my bf suggested that to me the other night as i would hate to get rid of my pedro i love him too much

thanks everyone im just being parra stupid boyfriends fault he likes to wind me up as him and my cat pedro have a love/hate relationship haha

Heh, this tread has made me feel better too, I wouldn't want my puss to have to go anywhere! He will probably stay as far away from baby as possible TBH, although he does love sleeping in the cot when he manages to get into the nursary :S I locked him in there the other day by accident, lol.

xxx

My cat always used to come in and sleep at the end of my bed but once Odhrán was here I had to lock her out incase she smothered him or something :oooo: He loves her now and gets so so excited when she walks past xx

My cats are staying put xD just making sure they dont try and sleep with baby but my cousing has 8 and both her children where fine :) xx

My cat is staying! I'll shave him if I have to! Lmao! I was brought up with cats and dogs and have no allergies, ditto DD and OH x

my princess marley is going noooowhere! im having her sterilised next friday tho so she will be more calm cuz now she is such a moaning cow and she screams all night at times.

It will be hard tho cuz she is always next to me, bath, bed (not when OH is here) sofa, kitchen.
If oh is not here she sleeps under my duvet, cant let her in the room when OH is here cuz she bites his toes.

it worries me a little tho that she never lays next to me, always on top of my hips or legs.. but she will not be close to Noa when im not there or when we are asleep. And i will get a catnet for the pram and mosesbasket if he sleeps there during the day unsupervised wheni need to do things around the house x

I'm allergic to cats, but we had a cat when I was born lol! He was with us until I was about 5... until he died. :(
But it's the hair people are allergic to, so if your baby does somehow have an allergy, just make sure there's no cat hair on his clothes, in his crib, etc. and he should be fine. Just keep a distance between the two. :)

thats good to know i would never get rid of my pedro love him to much

i got him neutered a while back for baby coming. I have cat nets for the baby's cot and the pram. For the past couple of weeks i havent been letting pedro in the room where keyan will be sleeping or in the toilet where his changing unit and bath is so he knows already. I dont know how he is going to react when he sees the baby i think he will scared at first but also very jealous as pedro cant stand to see me with any other animals never mind a baby hahaha:whistle: he will need 2 get used to it

poor pedro! :D nah he will love your boy as soon as he gets used to him!

You will be fine hun, we have a cat called Smartie and we got her when Rhys my 11 year old, was just 6mths old. Rhys toppeled over in his bouncer seat one day trying to catch the cat, and so we had to buy a sturdy one for him after that!

We just do as you have said, and make a point of not allowing him to sleep on or in anything baby related, and she soon got the message.

My daughter gets excma and the cat hair does agravate that, but we leave folded fluffy or fleecy blankets on the end of her bed, (all inviting!) and she sleeps on there instead! (means for less frequent washing of Brionys pillow too, (where the cat likes to sleep!)
