Pleeeease someone give me a solution. Our cat scratches every so often at night and wakes Brody. He is driving me DEMENTED.

NK showed me a air spray thing which I bought but now he's scratching the wall between our room and Brody's  I feel so cheated when he wakes him up at night. I'm honestly at the end of my tether.

Help :(

Scratch post elsewhere?
Spray him with some water when he does it? (I mean like out of a plant sprayer thing rather than a bucket of water lol) x

Our cats used to do the same so I feel your pain! They have stopped recently but the only thing that changed was that they started using their bed which they'd ignored for about a year x

Does he scratch in a particular place? Like the same place over and over? X

Thanks ladies.

He used to paw if that makes sense, our cupboards so they'd bang and Brody's door. I bought a spray thing that automatically sprays him with air when he's near something like that so can put that on if he starts (although only have one). Now though, he's scratching our wall next to OH's side of the bed, which Brody's room is behind  it sounds like nails down a chalkboard :puke:

Is there anything you can put there or even put a scratch mat/post to distract him? Have you thought of putting a small cat climber in your room (if you have space). May just distract him. Failing that duct tape. The universal answer to difficult animals and children.

Using Tapatalk can't see no tickers grrrrr.

We've got a scratch post and he hardly uses it for some reason. Swine! We've got fleece blankets round sofa sleeves otherwise he scratches them.

Does duct tape work?? Cling film worked on wardrobe for a while x

I mean put a scratch mat or scratch post in the way of his scratching. You could cover it in catnip to encourage him.

Velcro might be an option if you don't have duct tape.

I'll try duct tape thanks on cupboards. The walls a bit of a pain as area so big iykwim. X

Not really unfortunately. I'll speak to OH about looking at one though.

If you can get one in your bedroom it might help.

Hey chick,

Goodness thats mad!! Didn't realise cats would scratch walls etc.I must be lucky,my cat doesn't scratch anything except his scratch post!! Does the cat have a cat flap to the back garden/yard etc? If he/she does then you could lock him in the kitchen or utility room where the cat flap is. I used to do this when my cat was a kitten, stop him from roaming around the house at night xxxxx

He's a house cat unfortunately (ragdoll x tonkinese) so outsides a no go. He was at it again this morning. Will take the scratching post up tonight although no doubt that'll wake Brody too

One of my cats scratch the bedroom door while were asleep, its so annoying. We shut him.in another room if it gets too bad. We've tried rubbing his scratch post with cat nip but he does it because he wants to come in ( we never let the cats in our room) tin foil taped to the door worked well but its just a short term measure. How about feliway?

Xx
