Hi everyone sorry if this is too much info  but i have been really constipated since the birth of my son and was wondering whether you could take lactulose solution bp rather than laxative tablets whilst b/feeding? I did ask the pharmacist but he just said you should be all right but didnt seem sure.Does anyone know as it all it says on bottle is dont take whilst pregnant nothing about b/f

I was given lactulose to take when pregnant which is apparently ok for short term use.

i was given lactulose also to take but didnt work, i normally take bisacodyl even though it says on packet not to take when pregnant my GP said its ok but in limited doses, am currently on fybogel lol

as you can see i have a problem, though i do even when i aint pregnant lol

lactulose is only a sugar syrup anyway so cant harm you in any way, i had to give bethany some when she was 6weeks due to constipation

Yes lactulose is fine as it is only sugar water - it may be adviseable to up your fruit and fibre intake too along with your water intake. You may be dehydrated due to breast feeding which can make you constipated. remember you need 8 glasses of water per day for normal functioning let alone breast feeding!!!!
