So I usually have quite low blood pressure. In my maternity notes im usually around 100 over 60. I was fainting quite a bit which hasnt been happening lately.

I was seeing the GP today about hayfever and while I was in the waiting room i was bored so I used the BP machine that was there. My first reading was 138 over 84. I thought hmmm that cant be right. So I did it again. 133 over 82.

I know these figures are still considered within normal range but WTF is going on with me. I paniced a bit cos I havent had enough to drink before going to docs so was worried BP would be too low which is why I did it in the first place.

Got into the room and asked doc to check on his, incase the machine was faulty. And I was getting similar readings. He said thats not high BP. So I said it is for me and showed him my notes. He did 2 more reading and said we'll do best of 3. So the best was 124 in the top figure, he didnt even write it down and said "thats more like it" and "you havent got swollen ankles or anything anyway" and I was like "err yes i have, Ive had it for about 3 weeks, I cant wear socks. So he felt them and said there not too bad and as long as im feeling alright in myself its fine. :wall2:

now Im scared Ive got preeclampsia.

Do you guys think I should ring the midwife or do you reckon I should calm myself and listen to GP? Ive got antenatal clinic on monday anyway

I was reading on this last night funny enough! It said BP rises after 20wks anyway so maybe its just rising naturally the further you get??? Im guessing here!

If your really worried im sure your MW would be able to reassure you xxx

really hun that reading is fine just keep an eye on how your feeling if you get any headaches that are bad that a paracetomol doesnt clear see your midwife mine went to 155/110 with my dd befor they took me in if it under 90 they consider it normal headaches were the biggest indicatoer for me mine is alread 120/88 and im fine even with a history of high bp in pregnancy hope that helps

thanks girls. feeling a bit better. i'll ring the ward if i get headaches over the weekend otherwise i'll wait til monday. LO is wriggling around today too so should be fine

My BP is usually low like yours, on Monday when the MW took the reading it had elevated slightly but nothing to worry about. I was surprised too. Just keep a close eye on your swelling etc :)

I had this anxiety a few weeks ago when I had had a headache for two and a half weeks (I'm bad for migraines anyway). I had some swelling too but nothing that concerned the gp and urine was clear. My BP has always been about 130/80 or there abouts. Like the girls say, just keep an eye on things, swelling of the face is apparently a sign, the headaches and feeling really rubbish. Was the BP monitor you used one of the wee electric ones? And did the GP use the same? They can read a wee bit higher, my MW always uses a manual sphygmomanometer (the ones the pump up by hand and use a stethoscope) as that way is much more reliable!
No harm in getting checked out over the weekend if you are worried though!!

^^^ Like the ladies said i would just keep an eye on it and how you are feeling, mw will check next week - i'm sure doc would have referred you to mw or hospital if he was worried, don't think this heat is helping my feet having been puffy all day!
