It IS PreEclampsia!! **UPDATED 08.09 Pg 6**

Thanks again ladies

Thanks for your story too Fly. I've looked on Lloyds website and the BP kits aren't too pricey so will try and get out and get one soon.

I have had the swelling and headaches too, had it all;

Very swollen hands and feet (since about 20 weeks)
Pain in abdomen to the right (just started over the past couple of weeks)
High BP
Headaches (since 16 weeks!)
Blurred vision (straight lines appear woobly or bent at times)
Dizziness
Flashing white dots/floating black splodges in my eyes

I just put it all down to normal pregnancy as they kept sending me away :wall:

Aw, I've only just seen this - sorry you're having to go through this, thinking of you

Some excellent information there from Fly!
All i can say hun is, if they offer the tablets, obviously take them, but they can make you feel pretty rubbish too. I felt so lethargic. Also get your head around the chance you may end up with a c-section, its obviously not definite, but if you start considering it as a real possibility then it will be less of a shock if you do have to have one.

Ive just seen this, i cant believe how they have treated you, surely they could have seen this months ago.

I really hope you arn't feeling to crappy and i hope the tablets do some good hun.

I can't believe how appallingly the hospital have treated you.

The day I went to the hospital when I was pregnant with Jacob and they discovered my BP was up and I had protein in my wee, they sent me home to get my bag and I went straight back and was induced that same day!!!

Well no luck speaking to my GP today, by appointment or phone, and no other GP there available either, or the midwifes so they put me through to the hospital, who just said that if I'm really worried to come in and wait to speak to a doctor but they couldn't guarantee there would be one available and could just be sent home again! :wall: :wall:

No one even explained the medication to me at all yesterday, when to take it or how often etc, just gave me the prescription.

I'm going to try and get some rest today and attempt to stop getting myself worked up. OH is going to skip work tomorrow and come with me to DAU for my appointment at 10, and refuse to leave until we get seen properly.

Sounds like they are really understaffed to be messing you around like this

Hope you manage to relax today hun

OMG your poor thing. at least now they have diagnosed it. Took they flipping time though didn't they! GRRRRRRRRR.

I hope they treat you well tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you. xx

I cant comment on the pre-eclampsia hun but for your medication, just pop to the nearest chemist an d have a word with the pharamacist...they should sit down and talk to you about it all and explain it all to you...will give you a little piece of mind then too. Hope you get answers hun      Another thing you can do if you dont want to buy a monitor is just go regularly to lloyds they can do it there for free as often as you want...but for the sake of a tenner it gives you piece f mind knowing you can do it at home :)

Fingers crossed that it goes ok tomorrow! Thinking of you.

I've bought the Lloyds BP monitor. Just taken these readings this afternoon;

148/96
150/96
152/94
151/102
149/99
155/99

Have just taken another of the tablets but they seem to make all other symptoms worse :( Going to test again at about 8pm, and if it's still high I may call in :?

I think i remember that it took a day or two for the tablets to kick in with me but tis a long time ago and memories very hazy.

Think thats sensible re: ya blood pressure readings.

God my heart goes out to you lady

Lots of Love Sarah xxxxx

Oh hun Im glad they finally diagnosed you but so so sorry you have this!
Great info from Fly and Im glad you got yourself a BP monitor! I hope the tablets start to help soon but like you said, if it stays high then call in! In fact if Im completely honest I wouldnt let them send me home haha Id be so scared of it turning into Eclampsia!

Just doing another set of BP tests now for comparison and will take them again before bed.

As there is family history of it, obviously everyone is now getting worried, and we won't be leaving hospital tomorrow until we get seen properly this time. Dad said I should take my bag in, find a bed and refuse to leave until I've had the baby!!

What's the name of the tablets they gave you?

They're called Methyldopa (250mg)

They seem to be doing the trick!! :cheer: :cheer: Just done another set of readings, and tested both arms, and is now averaging around 138/88 :cheer:

Such piece of mind having that machine! I can get a good nights sleep now! :)

Thats good news that your BP has come down a bit.

Try and get plenty of rest

keep on insisting as pre clampsia is not something to joke around with. when a week ago midwife suspected i had it ( and my blood pressure was only raised a bit ) she told me to go straight to hospital. doctors took several tests and they ve asked me a whole load of questions and some of them were wether i had swollen anywhere, blurred vision and they even checked your joints. good on your oh insisting on it..NHS are terrible!

Sorry you're going through this, it's good you've got the bp monitor for peace of mind. Hope you're feeling better soon & get some answers today
