I had my boy on friday afternoon and lost minimal blood during labour.
Ive had bleeding for a few days but hardly any at all.
Midwife told me that I may fill a few pads up but never should fill up two in a row.
However, ive not ever filled one up. And over the last two days ive hardly bled at all. Its just been like a light period really since sunday.

Is this normal? Should I be bleeding more? Or does it get worse after a few days? Xx

Are you being quite active? I didn't bleed much at first because I could barely move due to stitches. About two weeks later I became more mobile and it loosened the blood and I started bleeding heavier x

I wasn't active for two days. Ove not been out for a walk or anything yet and I guess not as active as usual.

I'll be going out more from today walk wise so I shall expect more blood :-)

Thank you x

I think everyone is different though the more active you are the heavier the bleeding will be. Also you bleed heavier if you breastfeed because it helps the uterus to contract faster. I bled heavily for 2 weeks and lost a few clots as well. I was starting to get worried with the amount of blood I was losing but mw said she would only be worried if it was dripping down my legs and I was soaking pad after pad. At about day 13 mine suddenly slowed down and now it's just like a very light period xx

Mine has been exceptionally light hun which was surprising as after I stood up after giving birth I filled half of the room with blood.

It may get heavier with activity - my midwife advised me of this and she was right - but it settled down soon after. If it starts to pong a little or gets incredibly heavy then seek medical help, but id say what you're having is completely normal - pretty cool really isnt it?

I was expecting to be using those whopping pads for ages - but am just using regular sanitary medium flow towels now.

xx

It has become a bit heavier today. Only slightly heavier but I guess I cant complain if this is normal. Also not breastfeeding so maybe thats why.

Thanks ladies xx

I know you dont really need me chiming in at this point since you already have the answer, but just wanted to let you know that my postnatal bleeding was really light too, lighter than my periods, and stayed that way all the way through.

I was expecting the opposite though so i was pleasantly surprised :)

Thanks sarah. That is reassuring. I didnt know whether I would definitely expect a sudden rush of blood after a few days. I think ill count myself lucky xx

I'm the same Kelly. Infact I've switched to normal sanitary pads, its very light bleeding. Does get more when I move about though.

Xx

I think I may switch to normal pads soon too. Lucky us xx
