Just wondering what your views in it are?

I let H watch cbeebies whilst I go for a shower, and later when I make lunch, and that's all but apparently this can harm her development? I play with lots and she already says hi, mum and dadada. She's crawling for short periods too but I'm worried that I'm doing her harm! But I just can't leave her alone for two mins!

Your not doing her any harm! Like you said its only here and there while you have stuff to do!

Both mine watch tv! Obv not all day everyday! But it is on in the background and Charlie crawls around and plays with his toys etc!

I don't have a problem with tv, but it's has to be restricted, I don't let them watch it for long periods! And some program's are quite educational!

Thanks :) its good to hear from an experienced mummy! My gran had mentioned about something on the news about kids under two and tv. I was just worried I'd missed something important! It's literally for 10-15 mins so I can shower, and half an hour at lunch maybe. Sometimes I might let her watch in the night garden, but only if I'm ironing or something, and she plays with her toys mostly anyway x

I wouldnt worry about it, I think the issues are by parents that sit there child infront of tv all day my lo watches tv he is 14 months he has been walking for about 4 months he says loads of words and is incredibly smart it definatly didnt do him any harm.

Thanks! That's reassuring, I can't believe how worried I felt about it when she mentioned it x

Tyler watches baby Einstein before bed. The music calms him. Apart from the I don't actively encourage it. If I see him looking I distract him but the telly is on in the background iykwim?

emma watches in the night garden everyday. she dometimes doesn't even pay it any attention.

i saw the same news article - the thinking is that if babies get used to lots and lots of stimulation from the tv/video games for older kids they get really short attention spans and struggling in school as its not so much stimulation.

I'm obviously the odd one out! DS is nearly 20 months and still barely watches any tv. Tbh though we barely watch tv at all so it's not really surprising. I don't think a little bit now and again does any harm but obviously if that's the only stimulation then it's going to affect development. (I'm not suggesting thats what you do at all)
DS is more into books than tv and has been since he was tiny, always been more captivated by pictures in books and people than tv (when he's seen it).

J doesn't really watch tv either tbh...hes more interested in destroying things LOL! there were times i wish he did though hun...like first thing in the morning when i need a cuppa lol! he has now started to take an interest in The Hoobs though and we watchthat in the morning for 10 minutes then he gets bored lol!!

Dont worry about it hun! so long as thats not their WENTIRE day then everything moderation is ok!!

xx

Jack watches bits of TV here and there. Usually when I need to run around for 10mins and have a tidy up. He absolutely loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse & Special Agent Oso!! x

Ruby watches waybuloo everyday it's only on for twenty mins but in that time I go make her bottles and try and eat something . Xxx

I'm the same as pinky. theo watches baby Einstein DVD before bedtime xx

i dont think it does them any harm to watch a bit of telly (obv not all day every day) harrison has loads of toys and I play with him most of the time but sometimes I let him watch telly if im tired or not well or need to do womething!! I Dont see how it is any different than any other type of light show toy!!
Also we are talking about ceebeebies not saw or anything!!

Thanks everyone xx

To be honest she much prefers playing with her toys and crawling about than sitting there, but if it's just before her morning nap or at lunch It suits me s I can shower or eat x she's just soooo active I couldn't leave her alone for a minute!

there are 2 science based shows on bbc 2 on weekday mornings that i put on for Alyssa while she is in her bouncy chair or playgym. nina and the neurons and groucho n something, i think theyre really interesting n very educational. plus i love science lol. she likes spongebob too but at this stage its just noise n colours to her so shes interested in it. never leave her there long tho cos i wanna play with my baba not park her in front of the telly, i had a mate that did that n i felt so sorry for her twins

We have babytv on alot, but generally Oz isn't interested unless he's eating or there's a song on and then he loves to dance

Don't see anything wrong with tv, unless it's used for sole entertainment because parents plonk their LO there iygwim?

I never watch anything infront of Oz, like the jeremey kyle or the soaps, as think that's quite bad (esp jezza with all the shouting etc) but kids tv is quite educational and don't see anything wrong with it being on in the background.

I'm not bothered about her watching the television but I wont be the type of mum that just shoves their LO in front of the tv all day.
