April mummies!!

Had my early scan. Not the best news. Had to have a vaginal scan, I should be 8+4 but baby only measured 5 weeks and no heartbeat detected. Got to have another scan in a week to see its developed but tbh, I think that's it. Not sure what to do as apparently our epu doesnt open weekends. The sonographer works in Cambridge 30 mins away and is happy to see me there but earliest I can do is a week Tuesday as I have a course on the Monday. I can have a rescan at the same place we went to today but if there's no development I then have to wait anyway until the after the weekend anyway.

Oh no hun :-( I am so sorry. I really hope that there has been development by your next scan... Perhaps you're just not as far along as you thought? I'm really sorry hun, we are all here if you need to chat.
Any chance you could have a private scan sooner? Xxx

It was a private scan I had today. She kept asking me questions like my lmp, when I tested, if it was a faint line, which got me worried. I had a positive opk on 15th July and bfp on 30th July when I was two days late. So my dates all tie in. Im preparing myself for the worst.

Aw hun :-( I really hope that it's perhaps a slow developer. Have you got your OH there with you? Xxx

Aww I am so sorry it wasn't great news at your scan. Keeping everything crossed you get better news at your next scan. Sending you a big hug

Sorry to hear about your scan hun. :( I hope everything is okay at your next scan. X

Yeah he's here but not really saying a lot (which is normal for him anyway!). He doesn't understand it all bless him so finding it hard to get his head around. Of course I'm hoping for good news but I find it hard to stay positive when there is such a big difference in growth. If it was a week behind, I wouldn't feel so bad, but 3.5 weeks is a massive difference. The fact that there wasn't a heartbeat is also worrying, which I know you don't get at 5 weeks anyway but I cant see how any dates could be wrong xx

Best thing to do now is probably try and distract yourself til the next scan. There's nothing much you can do, so just relax and be gentle with yourself, and hopefully the time will go quickly so you can find out exactly where you stand. It's horrible that you're in limbo, and I really hope there's a positive outcome at the end for you xxx

Hi purple I hope u r ok and that the little one is just taking their time.
Xx

Flynn im guessing you are a teacher? snap, me too! I hate the time we have to put into planning.
Xx

I've got my fingers crossed for you Purplepebbles!

Yes, Mrs Nel I am a teacher too! And I hate the time that has to ago into the planning too! It's all new stuff for me this year too as I have moved from KS2 to KS1 so can't use any of my previous planning! They are cute little bunch too, I've got 5 boys and 1 girl this year all with fairly severe autism. Not quite sure where I am going to find the energy for them at the moment!!! How are you feeling now?

Oh Hun, I'm sorry you didn't get the news you were expecting. What about the EPU on Friday, that's almost a week. :hugs:

She asked if I could go Friday, which would've been ideal as Im off that day but they said it had to be more than 7 days. I'm going to try and ring the midwives tomorrow and see if they can refer me to the EPU and perhaps check my hcg levels. I figure that if I have a failing pregnancy, they would be able to see that my levels are what they should be at 8 weeks?xx

That sounds like a fair enough request, I hope they do it for you hun xx

Not major symptoms no, the odd bit of nausea here and there, sore boobs when I prod them, fatigue and peeing a bit more than normal (but I peed a lot anyway!) but I don't know if they are normal pregnancy symptoms for me or a sign of something else. I've been having a few pulling type pains since Thursday but again, not sure if that's normal or not now considering the circumstances xx

Hi hun, sorry to hear your scan didn't go to plan. I would say ring the midwife and tell them what happened at your private scan and they should get you into EPU for an NHS scan. The NHS might want to do two scans a week apart too though.

Let us know how you get on, thinking of you xx

Flynn I also am a teacher to kids with additional support needs. This year Im in primary 1 and have 10! Oh joy!

Feeling a little better now and only had 1 other episode of staining since this morning. How u?

Hope you are all well.
Xxx

Mrs Nel I have year 1 which I think is the equivalent of primary 2 in Scotland! They were completely immersed in free flow so I think I'm going to have a bit of a challenging getting them settled to some more seated and focused work! 10 is quite a large group! I hope you have some good support assistants! Glad that you seem to be feeling better! I've not been too bad today!
