I've just been to the toilet and when I wiped there was a smear of brown. No red, but two wipes of watery brown. Like at the very, very end of AF.
I'm so frightened. Should I phone the widwife? Wait and see what happens?

Gilly iv had the same today. Both times iv been to the toilet iv wiped away brownish staining and iv got light cramp. Im a paranoid freak so I rang the EPU and they have bkd me in for an early scan nxt Thursday. Im only 5 weeks just now so they wouldn't see anything but hopefully they will nxt week. 3 of my friends have txt me to say that they had this and between them they've gone onto have 5 babies from the early staining!

I had brown staining from 9dpo to when I got my bfp and then a few days later. As long as its not red then I was told its normal and just baby snuggling in. I had cramps too. Hope everything is ok xx

Hi Gilly iv had brown and red bleeding since 7dpo, it's only been brown the last few days and it's terrifying me. I'm seeing the doctor in an hour.
I hope you get some advice from epu xx

If its brown it is old blood. As long as its not red and your not having pains then its okay. But good luck with your appts.

To the ladies experiencing some spotting - sending you big hugs at this anxious time. If you have not done so already get yourself booked into EPU for a check up - this is the very reason they are there to check out pain and any bleeding before the dating scan and booking in. Once you are 'booked in' you are a patient of maternity and can ring there with any concerns. Some EPUs will only take referrals through a doctor or midwife - some let you call direct.

There are many many stories of ladies who have had brown staining / spotting and even fairly heavy bleeding and everything has been just fine.

I'm waiting for the sister to call me back. I have no pain but via the beauty of Google I've found that not all that comforting. I want to stay positive, just finding it difficult too.
Last time I went to the loo it seemed a bit thicker, not red or alot but thicker.

Aw sorry you're having a bit of stress ladies - glad you managed to get an early scan Lynne, that should put your mind at rest.

With my mc, I bled for a week and a half- bright red but mainly just when wiping, with no pain. I had a scan and heart beat was there and baby measured the right size. Bleeding then stopped, I went for another scan just to check all was ok and heartbeat had stopped but baby measured right size so it must have been recent. Doctor said bleeding possibly wasn't even anything to do with it, as it had stopped. We can send ourselves crazy worrying, but I think in a lot of cases bleeding doesn't mean anything bad, it's just where things are stretching etc, or sometimes it's old implantation blood. Some people even bleed loads and still don't miscarry. Worrying definitely doesn't help though so try not to!! Worth checking it out if its concerning you, and a free scan is always nice!! I'm sure it's nothing to worry about though ladies xxx

Feeling calmer now. Spoken to the sister and she is ringing me tomorrow when she has her diary on her. So hopefully I will get a scan. Touch wood there has been no more discharge.
