Anyone else expecting their 1st?

Hi sorry not been on here much. Scan went well. As you can see by the pic when scan was dated they said I was 10+4 days where I thought I was 11 weeks on the day. Have said it can change and maybe back to that when I have my dating scan next Thursday. I will just be glad to reach the 12 week mark. which I thought I would be on Saturday. Symptoms seem less this week on the sickness front, pleased to report only the occasional feeling of sickness but not actually been sick for nearly a week. Still tired and headaches have started. Boobs still sore but more manageable, just back and tummy ache nothing major just think it's muscles stretching ready for the growth spurts.

I've been getting bleeding gums! Which for me is especially annoying as I smoked for many, many years and didn't have bleeding gums. (I don't smoke anymore, obviously!!!) I plan on registering with our local dentist once my exemption certificate comes back through! Have you received yours yet?

Hi everyone!

Sorry I've been quite for a few days, good to see you all keeping this thread going :)

I currently have a horrible stinking cold. It kept me up all night last night as I had a sore throat that was so painful, I couldn't settle or sleep at all. Had to call in sick for work today, which I'd really rather not have done. Ended up in the kitchen at 4am and there was nothing I wanted more than some cold cough medicine from the fridge, but I stayed clear and made some hot honey and lemon water, which I've been drinking all day since (it's actually worked really, really well to ease my sore throat and clear some congestion).

When we were TTC I never considered the amount of things I wouldn't be able to have or use! I'd never have considered something like cough medicine to be dangerous during pregnancy!

On a happier note, I got my first scan date through on Friday - next Wednesday, June 24th. I am more nervous than excited right now I think! Still don't 'feel' pregnant so my paranoid side is expecting the worst, but then I think about what we could see and it makes me get all excited! By my estimations, I'll be 11+4 for the scan, so we shall see!

Hope you're all doing well.

The certificate is your mat b1 form or sometimes you get a card, thats the size of a credit card which has the same details on. Got mine through the post on friday so just registered with a dentist.

My certificate hasn't arrived yet, but I managed to sort out a prescription at the pharmacy free of charge no problems just by ticking the maternity box! Not sure I'd risk a dentist appointment without it though - hoping it comes soon!

I was given a form by the midwife for applying for it during my booking in appointment!

So, had some news with has left me worried/confused! Midwife sent me a letter which I got this weekend, regarding my blood tests at the booking in appointment. Apparently I am Rh D Negative, which is not very good - my red blood cells could attack the babies red blood cells, and in worst case scenarios it can have some awful consequences.

I have to have treatment at 28 weeks, 34 weeks, as soon as the baby is born and after that too - they also have to test the babies blood type from the umbilical cord as soon as it's born, to see if it will need treatment too.

Has anyone else had this news or know much about it? The letter was so vague, it sent me into such a panic!

It should just be an anti D injection i think its called
Anyone with rh D - blood gets it x

Yeh that's what the letter said. I had no idea it even existed before getting the results back!

Hi SAHF i wouldnt worry too much about it- i think its quite common- basically if you have any bleeding at all through the pregnancy you might need an injection and they give you a few injections through the pregnancy as well but for most ppl i think its fine.

this kind of thing they should really call you and discuss as its a bit much in a letter if youve never heard of it before.
but if you want someone to explain it book a telephone consult with your GP- they should be able to explain it in detail
