Tablets should help if you've been prescribed them but you can improve iron levels with diet too, which is apparently less likely to cause unwanted side effects like constipation. Have a google of iron rich foods and try to eat more of them if you can - red meat and certain fish I think and green leafy veg, dried apricots, nuts, beans, lentils and a load of other random foods.
