I'm furious! Have you heard about them? Using x-ray's to do a virtual "strip search"... Images shown on the daily mail website show that they will actually be able to see you naked! Under 18's are exempt but 18+ HAVE to have it if they want to fly! No matter whether your pregnant or any other reason... You refuse the scan... They refuse you the flight  x

As someone who is petrified of flying and even more petrified at the cunning ways terrorists try to get explosives on board I am more than happy about these scanners. The more checks the better IMO. I would wonder if they are safe when pregnant though x

It just seems far too invasive for me... TBH if these things are put into place for good, not just the "trial period" I probably won't go abroad again... Well... Fly anywhere at least. x

I see what you're saying but it kinda has to be invasive as terrorists will stop at nothing to harm innocent people. I flew to Egypt in October and was surprised and worried by the fact that not everyone was made to go through the body scan, I spent the whole flight worried that they would have missed something. x

I'm in agreement with you Cosmic

I actually don't think there is enough security at the airports & think more checks should be bought in place, it's for ours & others safety & for the safety of our country as well

xxxx

Are me and OH the only people who have a major problem with them? They are far too invasive for my liking. They might as well ask you to strip naked then and there! Sure people wouldnt be so happy to do that!

I agree that I would rather that than die from terrorism. I think it's a small price to pay to have piece of mind x

I sort of had your mind set when I first heard of it but I've come round to the idea. I just feel sorry for the people who have to look at the mingin nakedness. Safety first I guess :eh:

They had these when we went to florida last year, at glasgow airport x

If you're pregnant, you can be excused, and you just get a pat down after the normal scanner x I know because my friend was preggers at the time, and she didnt have to do the xray x

The images aren't shown in public either, and its really like a full body xray, bones and stuff you can see x

Just read up on it, and all passengers are allowed to refuse it, and will be hand searched instead (like a pat down) x

I would prefer this over what the terrorists are doing now, internal bombs, no thank you :faint:

A doctor refused it for medical reasons and wasn't allowed to fly... You aren't allowed to refuse... And there are no bones nd stuff in the images, it's like a black and white photo of a naked body... Daily Mail has pictures of it on their website... x

I'd much rather have a body scan than be blown to smithereens :flower: x

I'm bad with flying, and am anxious until I'm off the plane, I would feckin strip nevermind get an xray if it meant a safe journey lol x

As someone whose brother is a pilot, ANYTHING they can do to make it safer for him (and everyone else lol!) is fine by me. He told me once about an experience he had that really shook him; he was airside and about to board when a 'gentleman' in his mid 20's took one look at his uniform, glared at him, put his hand in a mock gun to his head and cocked his thumb down to simulate pulling the trigger. Nice. My Brother is the sweetest guy possible who has worked his ass off saving thousands to get his licence and while there are nutters and extremists like that out there anything they can come up with has to be good.

I think its disguasting and it would put me of flying, I'm not stupid, I understand its been terrorist attacks but I think its fairly safe now, I have never seen anyone not goin trough the scanner n i always get picked out for extra scans, ive had noas toys scaned n swaps from my phone when they look for drugs.
September 11 was awful n the start of strickter rules at airports, u think its enough, we r loosing our privacy, cctv everywhere, body scans, satelite pictures of your house n garden. It's disgusting.
Ive not read the article but I guess its an American invention? It's hard not to start an political discussion about this for me, but every year we see on tv about September 11, (dont get me wrong, innocent ppl dying is horrible, but America always hide the damage they do to others, innocent ppl they kill n harm.

I'd rather be strip searched! At least then I know who's seeing me naked!

And Isobel they're being tested at Gatwick Luton and Manchester as far as I can tell... It's disgusting how much the government are stealing away our privacy, I 100% agree with you xx

It's sad but unfortunately this is the world we live in. I dont mind cameras, CCTV, scanners - the lot! Anything necessary to keep good and honest people safe x
