Just want to introduce myself...im new to the whole forum thing, so not sure how it all works, but it looks really helpful and everyone sounds so friendly :)

Not wanting to start on a bad note... so im 27+3 and expecting my first little baba (Boy) - very excited :) and really cant wait!!!! due date is 13th Jan - which is a friday lol :)

Now the annoying part, I have been diagnosed with SPD roughly about 6 weeks ago which started as a mild pain - Now im on crutches and in constant severe Pain which is Crippling :( I am in constant tears with the pain and paracetamol doesnt even touch it!
Last time i went to the docs he said i could go back and try Codeine? but it has small side effects to the baby. i have made an appt to go back tomorrow - but not sure what to do :(
im also waiting to hear about physio - but they are taking there time.

Just want to no if anyone has gone through this...
Is codeine any good? would you take it even if it has very small side effects with baby?
How did you cope? eg walking, sleeping, pain etc
did it go away straight after you gave birth?

i have so many questions rattling around in my head :(

i feel i cant cope with another 13 weeks of this, so just wanted to hear any great advice from some one who has been there and managed to get through it!!

thanks in advance guys - sorry for the small rant!!!

Hi chick and welcome !! I too have severe SPD and have done in all 3 of my pregnencies being induced at 38 weeks cos of it this time. In all honesty i dont even bother with pain killers cos all they will give me is paracetamol which as u know does nothing !!! all i can suggest is rest as much as u can. warm baths help at night and sleep with pillows under your bump and between your knees !! also dont push any trolleys etc and keep your knee together when getting in and out the the car. keep chasing the physio !! have u got a support belt ? they do help a bit !! and yes it does go once bubba is here occasionally get the odd little pain but nothing compared to now !!

Hope this helps not very positive i'm afraid but just keep focusing on your end goal !! your little boy xxxxx:hugs::hugs:

Hey hun  welcome to Pf!
I am in the same boat I wasdiagnosed at 9weeks with SPD and it has got worse and worse' am now 29 weeks and on crutches also I can't really get out the house also in tears with the pain .
I have codeine Which I try not to take as I was told the baby can have breathing trouble at birth if u take it in tri 3! I sometimes have to take it at night cos I am desperate and it does take the edge off it. I try and stick to paracetomal in the day!
I have had 2 physio appts and the have given me some exercises! Bum clenching and pelvic floor! They also gave me the crutches and a tubagrip for bump. They have ordered a different support but take a while to come! Grr
It is horrendous and I really feel for you. If you want to chat/moan you can always pm me or add me on Facebook www.Facebook.com/mrsmcglinchey xxxx Laura x

Thanks guys,
im glad to know im not the only one suffering - but do know it will be worth it in the end!
Any good support belts you can recommend? i was going to wait untill i had seen the physio - but it seems to be taking forever (doesnt help that the midwife Forgot to refer me :( was not happy!!)
I have found that having a bath really helps - so spend most of my evenings having a long soak lol

MRSMC - Is Physio worth it? as im going to struggle getting there, but have heard that they dont really do a lot for the condition?
Thank you to you all for the hints and help - please keep them coming.
i have started sleeping on a folded up duvet to make it a little softer - not entirely sure if it works yet, will give it a while.

xxxxx

It was the physio that gave me my belt . And like mrs mc said they do give good advice and help advice u on best birthing positions for u. Hope u get to see one soon xxx

Hi hun I have been diagnosed with this I was told that codiene etc only affects baby if taken right before the birth. Providing its stopped a few weeks before then it won't affect babes breathing. Different docs say different things. I am just waiting for physio to come through too so am hoping things get better soon. xxxxxxxx

Thanks - im off to the docs on friday to hopefully gets some codeine to only take it if im really struggling. Im still waiting on physio - seems to of take forever :(
