_>•~*X*~July 2015 Mummies-to-be!!!~*X*~•<_

Hi Ladies,

Sorry to hear some of you are not sleeping too well - it's awful trying to function normally when you are tired so you have my sympathy!

KWarbee - complete U turn indeed!! I'm excited for you though xx

Lola - great news about your scan I'm sure everything will be fine xx

Lacey - Please could you put my scan date down as 24th Feb? Thanks xx

Just wondering which of you ladies will be trying breast feeding and which will be just bottle?

xx

I'll be giving breast feeding a go, hopefully it won't be too much of a struggle.
Not sure the rules/advice on mixing breast and bottle as solely breast kind of feels as though it would exclude OH a bit.

How about you Boosh?x

I'm the same as you hun going to give breast feeding a darn good whirl but I will express so that OH can do feeds as well. I'm not going to beat myself up if it doesn't work/ baby doesn't take to it as long as it gets the clostrum (however it's spelt) then I'll be happy! xx

I'll be hopefully breastfeeding again this time
Was lovely to do first time round
Think they say wait till baby is used to feeding and latches on on before introducing a bottle or dummy or it can give confusion and sometimes push baby more towards the bottle as with a bottle they don't really need to suck to much for the milk : ) x

I feel the same way. I will definitely try breast feeding but I know it doesn't work for everyone so I will try not to put too much pressure on myself. I would hope to express too so that my OH can feed baby too.

You ladies will think I'm ridiculous...wanna know how much of a U-turn I have taken in regards to finding out?! I may have booked an early gender scan to find out, I'm so terrible!!! My OH and mum just laugh at me, they know what I'm like. This is why I can put on lots of weight easily - I can't resist temptation and once I know I can, I want it straight away.

xx

Haha, when is thr scan?
Hope you don't change your mind again now!x

Saturday :oooo:

That's what my OH said too. I think there will always be a part of me that wishes I could have resisted, but at the same time I couldn't ever regret finding out either. xx

Oh wow Saturday
Not too jealous honest lol
Hope it goes well hun x

Aaaaargh KWarbee that's so exciting! I think I would have done a u-turn too as I keep thinking I want to know now but my OH really wants it to be a surprise so think we'll stick to that. Aww can't wait to start finding out what you're all having!

I'm going to give breast feeding and expressing a go too. Seems like it can be really tough at times but I'd like to try and will try not to be hard on myself if it doesn't work out. For those of you that are thinking of expressing too, are you going to buy a breast pump/ steriliser etc. in advance or are you just going to see how it goes first? Xxx

Lola - I was told not to buy one and just hire one - I was told to speak to my midwife about it, I was also told not to get a manual pump as they are hard work, I think it will be a wait and see purchase but I like the idea of hiring it so you don't waste money buying one! x

I know, I'm so naughty. And I was saying to you Laura that you should wait and it was 'only a few weeks' until you could find out. My 20w scan is in 4 weeks, I'm far too impatient for my own good!!

Thank you :) very excited, hope baby is not in an awkward position! I've been advised to drink a fizzy drink beforehand!

Lola, I think I will probably try and buy a breast pump/express thing beforehand, but I'm not too sure if this advised or not? I need to do more reading about feeding, I feel a bit clueless!

xx

I was also told that the electric ones you buy in stores/online aren't as good as the hospital grade ones. I've just had a quick google and there are a few places that hire them out for 30 day periods for around £40.
I looked online at the electric ones and some were £170!!

I brought the medela swing electric pump it was very good but only used it twice as fully breastfed from day one only expressed due to my little one being taken into hospital at 4 days old
I managed 10 months and I would have done longer but my little one decided it wasn't enough anymore lol he was greedy

They are very expensive and if I was to do it again I would hire one like you said boosh

Kwarbee lol at the saying it's only 3 weeks till mine
I am the same hun was only looking online at a scan again yesterday for £79 but I'm holding off..... Just.... Sort of lol x

boosh- like you i will be happy if baby just gets the colostrum, i wasnt able to breastfeed the first time round DD wouldnt take and to be honest if i cant this time i wont beat myself up about it :)

Lola- i bought the pink lining bag from amazon as i have prime and returns are a coupple of pound, its arrived and i must say the blooming gorgeous bag should be pleanty big enough for baby and my DD spare clothes ect im chuffed with it =) im suprised how roomy it is compared with other chaning bags ive had in the past, just wish i could of had the owl one but £79 is far to much to pay for a bag lol

Feeling lots better now, thank you for your responses, it's nice having you all there experiencing similar things!

Will definitely try breast feeding and will then mix with pumped milk when bottles can be introduced! My sil had a manual pump and binned it as it was useless, I will wait to make sure I can breast feed/produce milk before investing in a pump, will probably purchase as will used a lot as going back to work early!

Buying the cotbed tonight!

Forgot to say Lacey my 20week scan is 17th Feb! 16week midwife appointment is next friday and I'll be 17 plus 4!

Kwarbee, I am glad you have come to a decision, sometimes the back and fourth is worse than the decision! Can't wait to hear what you are all having!

I designed the nursery wardrobes and furniture last night and have started on the interior design, so exciting!!

xx

Boosh and BonzE, you're updated :)

So I've now got an emergency consultant appointment at the hospital tomorrow. Not sure what I've posted where now, but basically, after my bleed at 14w I should have been given an anti d top up injection but wasn't, now I have antibodies in my blood that aren't good for baby. Fun.
This appointment was booked yesterday for mid-Feb then bumped up today... Dunno what that's about.

Don't bother with manual breast pumps, they suck.
Best bet is hire, see how you go, and then buy if expressing is what you wanna do xx

Keep us posted Lacey, sure it's just to get the jab done sooner rather than later. Always here, day or night xx

Kwarbee you have really started me off lol what times your scan Saturday?
I could book a sexing scan for tomorrow for £50 ahhhhh what to do x
