I really didn't expect we'd be waiting 7 weeks for the sperm test!!! OH booked it today.

I'm gutted as he's really worried about it. Obviously I want to know the results as well, but I don't want him to worry about it for that long!!!

We're not having a summer holiday this year so I can't even distract us with that.

Is this a normal wait? I know there's nothing we can do about it, I just wondered...

For my hubby, it was about a month for the first one week so 7 weeks does sound mabe a little excessive and then the repeat ones can be booked way in advance as you need to wait 3 months between anyway.

I am under the impression that demand for fertility diagnostics and treatments increase during school holidays because all the teachers etc want them then.

I'm sure it will quickly fall to the back of your hubby mind if it isn't mentioned :)

You could do something about it - such as phoning the fertility units reception frequently and just asking if there are any openings. The shorter notice you require, the better.

That does seem like a long time Scotch! In terms of school holidays I can say that as a teacher I have no preferance or chance of getting a change in appointments. Im going to have to take time off work for it when it eventually arrives! I would maybe phone up to see if you can get it sooner, especially if your oh is worried about it!

We figured that if the people who work in the lab have kids there's probably more leave being taken at the moment so there may be a bit of a backlogue

Will keep phoning and hoping people have caught and cancelled, that's a good idea.

Seems so long, but everything with TTC takes a while so we're getting used to it...

we booked ours months ago , then no appointment came through so we went and spoke to the doctor , still no appointment so we spoke to the head of the docs surgery she looked into it and a week or two later we got the appointment for 4 weeks later so ours has been an age! but thats prob down to the doctors surgery not the other end . 12TH Aug ours is x

Glad we didn't have to go through that! We got a letter from the doc and then booked directly with the hospital

7 weeks :shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

Blimey I think we must have been really lucky as we didnt have to wait at all, we was given a form and pot by our GP and then we just had to drop it off at the hospital when ever we was ready.

I totally understand that your OH must be nervous especially being made to wait that long, hopefully they can fit you in sooner!!

We didn't have to wait, either. The doctor gave my hubby his little pot with the bag and told him to drop it off at the hospital anytime - as long as it was within an hour. He did it the day after going to the docs. Seven weeks is a he'll of a wait. I don't think my hubby would have done it if he had to wait that long!! xx

we were given the pot and form had to make an app had to wait 9 weeks for it some clinics only do 2 mornings a week for about 2 hours xxx

My OH got an appointment on the same day that I was booked into the fert/clinic after being referred (about 3 weeks). But we still haven't got the results, or should I say he hasn't. He called to ask about them but they said that they dont give them over the phone and you can only get them when we see the consultant, which is on Monday. He is really nervous as he didn't really want to do it in the first place (me and their egos). I pray that it's ok bcoz it's bad enough dealing with my issues in ttc.

Mid i know what you mean if my OH comes back with problems then we may aswell give in! x x

Wow that does seem a long time to wait! I think it's ridiculous how things are so different depending on which part of the country you're in x

I was given a pot and a helpful instructional leaflet when I went to hospital for first appt. I just had to give it to hubby, he phoned up to arrange a day he would drop it off (it was pretty much any time that suited him within mon-fri 8-12) and that was it. He should have done it twice but due to having problems getting time off work he nevre managed it before I went back to see hosp. Consultant said he was happy with just the results of first test and that was it.
