I know alot of people who have never breastfed, hated breastfeeding and never even tryed, and these are the people that critisise what im doing.

" breastfeeding is nothing wait till shes 15, then thats a challenge"

"Oh she should weigh more than that"

" She should be sleeping longer by now"

" she feeds so much!"

"hungry again! you sure shes getting enough"

" I dont know how yo put up with that she would of gone on a bottle by now if that was me, just seems silly"

And the best one

" breastfeeding isnt important you know, you need a life too, forumla is just as good you will know what shes getting"

 F*** off your just unintelligent stuck up idiots is what I should tell em, but it does get to me.

The past 3 months have been very hard and I feel that she is worth every mintute of that, and I like to feel proud and show that, as I do with my sig below.

 Unfortunately whatever you do someone will have something to say or some "better" way of doing it. The only advice i can give at the moment is your probably better just nodding and smiling if it is friends or family.

You do what you think is best for as long as you want to do it.

:rotfl: ive heard them all tash.

the one i got was ''i bet she'd down a 8oz bottle '' as if shes freaking starving

 I know it is sooo frustrating. When Emma was about 4 months old she had a big growth spurt and my family kept saying stuff like, "I can't believe she's hungry again' and you really should give her a bottle you know'
:wall: :wall:

Tash I can sympathise. although I never tried it myself I realise you must feel proud and your doiung a fab job. hate to say it but It doesnt matter how you chose to feed your baby people are going to comment, me i bottle fed from feed 1, a descision both of us were pleased with but then you get people say things like

"do you not breastfeed?"
"dont you want your baby to get the best start?"
"I dont know how you cant even try "
"breast is best"
you get people look down their noses at you as if to say "if you were a ral mum you wouldnt be formula feeding"

I hate t say it hun but basically your dammed if you do and dammed if you dont. Sod whatpeople say you are doing what is best for you and your babba girl, smae as i did what was best for me and my hunk, no matter what anyone says your her mum, which means your right, ignore the petty people your doing great

I do think it has alot to do with poor education about breastfeeding, their quick enough to educate about forumula and advertise it, but not breast? just don't get it

Than again you can't make money with breast milk can you

I hear these all the time, and if people really knew what it did and how wonderfull the experience can be after that big hurdle everyone would do it :)

i did both hahahaha
stuff wot people think ur doing wot u want/can for UR baby

You are right yes it can be like that on both side of the coin, it baffles me really, you think your doing the best but yet someone will critisise and most of the time its people who hant got children.

Its the same with weaning, lol if every child had to wait until 6 months to wean im sorry but most would loose a concidreable amount of weight

Im dsorry but there is more education on breast feeding than bottle feeding, all that is advertised with bottle feeding its the brands of forumula. Look at all the bf support groups etc etc etc how many bottle feeding support groups are there?????

And sigs like "breast feeding, gold class" so what class am I giving my son when I give him a bottle?

That just makes me feel like shit because I failed at breast feeding.

yeah im been blunt but im sick of hearing breast is best, breast feeding is what babies were born for, breast fed babies are smarter....

and im sick of people who have chosen not to or failed at breastfeeding putting down the ones who have worked damned hard at succeeding at breasffeding.

Excuss me, actualy there are no breasfeeding support groups in my area and the ones they did have only had a few went because there wasnt alot of women in the area that breastfed!

There isnt alot of available education on breastfeeding or help at all, Formula is widely advertised.

and to be honest what support do you need to show how to bottle feed, it isnt hard, I watched and helped my mum do it for 4 years, big deal.

It was bloody hard getting as far as I have this post was not aimed at anyone who bottle fed, merely aimed at people who I know who havnt got a clue nor even tryed to breastfeed and they were critising what I was doing.

Im sorry it didnt work out for you.

oh and were in my sig does it say, formula is crap, so what that I have breastfeeding the gold standard? :|

nothing wrong with your signatures tasha!

breast feeding is not an easy thing to achieve for some women. I struggled for weeks with my first but i got by.

You should be proud of yourself for sticking with it tash. its an achievement

I think i have seen probably more about breastfeeding than bottle feeding, but as you say bottle feeding is probably easier than breast feeding (i dont know cause my baby aint here yet) so it would make sense that there is more info for breast feeding.

I have chosen to bottlefeed and thats that, if someone doesnt like it tuff titties! (excuse the pun) At the end of the day you do what is comfortable for you.

I really hope this dont turn into an arguement again cause there really is no need for it.

i don't think that was tasha intention at all.

:)

Neither do i.

Just looked like it was going that way as it always seems to with feeding threads

no way!

its ok. everyones cool about it tasha!

Breastfeeding is extremely hard, especially at the beginning and I don't think many people realise the hard work and dedication that goes into it. There is not enough support to help new mums which is why so many give up, we need more education and more support. Also, it is hard to get your baps out in public, you worry if baby is getting enough, if baby is latching on properly, if your milk has dried up or not, if you are doing it properly, having to do it when your boobs are really sore. The support groups are there so mums can enourage, advise and help other breastfeeding mums.
