who wears the pants?

i don't know what one to choose.

i work 25hours a week, OH is contracted for 20 hours a week but can work up to 40 hours depending if they need him. so one week he could do 20hours, the next 40, then down to 28 it varies.

he'll tidy, clean out the cats litter tray if i ask, sometimes put a load of washing on if i sort it out and he can remember how the machine works. But i tend to do the tidying, cooking, cleaning etc. etc. he tends to be glued to the xbox360 a lot.

i don't know what it'll be like when we have a LO, or even just a LO on the way to be honest.

It's definitely 50/50 in our house. We both work full time and we both share the housework and the childcare. We work different days so that means that Evie is home with one of us...she goes to nursery for a half day and a full day atm.

One our days off whatever needs doing gets done by one of us. I always make tea while OH baths Evie and then he always washes up while I put my feet up.

We don't have jobs that we each do...we just muck in together and do what we have to :)

I do all the housework and childcare, OH earns almost all of the money but I have my pendant money on top.

Now I'm busy with the pendants for xmas I have said that he'll have to help me out a bit more around the house.

I do most of the housework and childcare, as I'm a stay-at-home mum, and OH works long hours (he is out of the house at 5.30am on his way to London for 7am and usually not in until 6.30-7pm).

Saying that though, he is fantastic! At weekends he always cooks because he enjoys it but it's nice for me to have a break from doing it! We share a lot of it at the weekends, he'll cook and I'll wash up, etc. He does the hoovering and putting the bins out and things like that, and if I'm laying on the settee feeling ill he'll run round after me getting me drinks and stuff. He also puts Amber to bed every night, we go up there together with her and both tuck her in but she always has to have her Daddy read her a story, she won't let me!

Things changed for us when i got pregnant so at the moment we are both at home because i am on the sick for the placenta praevia and i need hubby at home to care for the kids.

but.....when i have the little one i will be starting uni full time in the september and hubby will be at home looking after the kids and house for bit. I really don't want the baby going into childcare yet so that's how it has to be. Thankfully because i will be training to be a nurse i get a nice bursary so hopefully things will be a bit rosier for us then!

None of the options fit us, I earn the most so am the main breadwinner and do about 2/3's of the house stuff and I imagine when we have kids I'll do the lion share of that as well.

Same here. I'm the main earner and also do most of the domestic duties (I say most rather than all as he does the cat litter trays and takes the bin out! ).

My maternity leave starts officially next Monday and we are going to be stuffed for money. Currently he doesn't pay any bills but gives me a cheque every month to go towards the mortgage. He's so useless with money though that his wages are going to be paid into my account so that I can still ensure all the bills get paid!

I would love the traditional role of being a SAHM and OH earning all the money and dealing with all the finances but I don't think we will ever achieve that with his lack of drive to have a well paid job. (He's been in the same job for over 11 years and works hard and is good at his job but loyalty doesn't appear to be rewarded nowadays. :( )

I put 50/50 only because I've started work again. he is the main breadwinner because he pays the most exensive bills and the rent. But with the money i earn, I buy all the food and baby stuff we need. Which technically makes me the 'breadwinner' but you know what I mean! And as for housework we try to share the load, although i do much more as I work part-time.

i chose 50/50 - althoug in reality when we are both working I do more housework... works ok really cos he does his bit and if he tried to clean i'd only end up doing it again anyway

There wasnt really an option for me on the vote lol.

I run 3 websites, altho they not making much money at the mo, credit crunch i guess im on the computer all day every day while doing all the house work and looking after LO in between, OH works full time and plays the computer the rest of the time, I just dont have the energy to complain to him about it.

I said 50/50 as its probably closest lol but in reality, I wear the pants because what I say goes lol! Joe will be out earning the money but still do housework and look after the children etc!
I will always sort out the bills as Im a better accountant lol! But yeh I used to do everything but now its split more in my favour! (I do nothing he does everything  JK)

We're 50/50 at the moment (although I'm on mat leave). My whole department is being re-organised at the moment so my job will be different when I go back to work so I'm waiting to see how things turn out. I'd like to do some form of part time working but not knowing what I'm going back to makes it hard to know what is feasible.

I am a SAHM. I do most of the housework but not all of it. Ewan helps, not very often and I do usually need to give him a nudge but he helps.

I'm in a bit of an odd situation. Before moving we both worked full time (although he brought in WAY more money than I did) but now we've moved abroad with his work and my visa doesn't allow me to work.

So I'm basically a 'housewife' (that's actually my official 'occupation' according to my ID card and Visa :? ). When we go back to the UK (with kids yay!) we are planning to set up our own business which will be primarily run by me to start with and then expand if all goes well. He will have retired a few years after we get back so he can then start to run the business and hopefully we will earn millions and retire young.

Pipe dreams eh?
