Hi all,

So I'm having burning pain in my left hip area lately. Just the left side, more and more often. Usually when I'm sitting or laying down and I have to stand up to try and ease it. It bloody hurts. I have a slipped disk and sciatica already but its not that type of nerve pain, it's more a burning.

Does it sound like SPD or just a random hip thing? Opinions welcome

Yes spd can feel like a burning sensation, ive had severe spd with most of my pregnancies. I couldnt walk and even laying down or turning over in bed would be hell. Mine felt like a burning pulling clicky cramping pain

Thanks hun that's so helpful maybe it is that. That sounds awful for you. I've read it can be clicky type thing so I thought it didn't really sound similar. My sciatica when it flares is worse than labour for definite but this is pretty damn close too. I'm only 21 weeks now :/

I have physio in a fortnight so I guess I'll have to ask them about it. Pregnancy I swear! Xx

Yep you dont always get the clicking. Mine used to cause burning in the inner top thigh/groin area. Really awful pain. See a doctor they might refer you to physio xx

I got the clicking but the worst of mine was the feeling of my hips pulling apart which was constant. Lying in bed was awful too tho I ended up spending nearly a month there as I couldn't drive with it so was off work.
I got one physio session just before due date (even tho it was an urgent referral) that was put through months before so I would definitely push for a referral as it could take an age.
Mine lasted for a long time after birth too and didn't find physio very helpful.
Goodluck! It really is an awful pain.

I have physio already booked from a disk injury like I mentioned but thanks. Sounds like fun lol xx

oh Shanivy! hope it eases off for you :( x
I only get a bit of nerve pain every now and then and I'm a huge wimp! Can't be nice being in that much pain!

I’m 31 weeks pregnant and suffering with spd :-( its horrible, my groin actually grinds and cracks when I move every one hears it too and it feels like I’ve been twatted with a pole or something down there. I can’t get comfy at all laying on my sides after a few minutes I get so much pressure heat and pain in them then it shoots down my bum and thighs, I try sleeping sitting up but eventually my bum and thighs start with it and my lower back, I walk like I’ve shit myself and some days I can’t walk it’s that painful, I’ve even dropped to my knees a few times as my legs have just given Way which is scary, warm baths excercises sitting/ laying down walking and codiene do absolutely nothing for me xx

Thanks ladies

Ugh Holli that sounds awful for you. The pain from my hip is keeping me awake right now so I can sympathise  it's a horrible deep burning pain that I just can't get rid of no matter how I lay. It feel like it's getting more often, I'm fucked if it gets worse. Yours sounds way worse than mine I don't know how you've dealt with this through your whole pregnancy hun. Codine does nothing for my sciatica and disk so I'm not surprised it doesn't work for you. The worst flare up I had they gave me tramadol and diazepam which didn't help at all. So I imagine SPD would be the same for you, even if they were an option. You've not long left so fx that it passes quickly xx

I started with it around 20 weeks maybe earlier (baby brain) and it’s gotten worse every day I’ve been signed off for it since beginning of December but now I’ve started Maternity leave ( couldn’t do my job as I’m a carer in a care Home so couldn’t help people get washed and dressed properly couldn’t even serve meals as have to bed down for food out trolleys and plates that are warmed up so I was no use there luckily they have been amazing with me about it all and paid me pretty decent for sick pay) I really hope you don’t get it any worse as there’s nothing they can do for it, at first the codiene worked but now it doesn’t touch it so I don’t bother taking it. I suffer with sciatica and I would rather that than this, my doctor has referred me for physio but he’s said it won’t do anything and won’t be any different to the excercises I’ve been doing, it helps some people though so if you can have it do it before you get any heavier and worse pain as the bigger I get the worse my pain my worry is if it’s this painful Now will I cope pushing her out through it? Xx

Ah god, thanks. Not sounding too hopeful lol. It's got worse even since I posted this.. Nah codine does nothing for my disk either so I don't see the point, not even take the edge off. I slipped it and was a support worker. I had so much sick time off with that, couldn't walk let alone use a hoist or shower anyone etc. Couldn't even look after my daughter. So I can imagine how difficult your job would have been with your SPD. I'll just have to see what they say but I'm sure it won't be any different to the stuff I already know for my back. Pregnancy is insane sometimes. What we have to deal with to bring little people into the world. Fx for you though, I really hope your labour isn't affected drastically by it hun xx
