What do you have left to buy?

I just bought fitted sheets for the cot
I'll layer it with muslins to catch sick
He'll be swaddled in cellular blankets at first then move onto sleeping bag things
Advised against bumpers so wasnt sure about even bothering with nice bedding sets x

That's what we've done too. We're going from moses basket + blankets, to cot + grobags, so won't need bedding till +1year and then it'll just be a cot quilt and a pillow. The fancy bedding sets look gorgeous but we're giving them a miss because we know they won't be used X

I love Mothercare sales. Most of our size 3-6 and 6-9 clothes (I've bought for the first 12 months in advance on basic stuff, so we always have some stuff to hand) has been bought in sales, mostly Mothercare sales!!

I'm hoping to get the rest of the stuff we'll need winter clothes wise before they're born in January, in the post-Christmas/early January sales!

We have very little left to get now. Some winter clothes like a couple more cardigans, jackets, a warm hat/gloves, nappies (just going to get a couple of packs at first to see how baby is with them, hoping to try the Aldi ones first that everyone raves about), some more cotton wool, bath towels and then paint for decorating the nursery!

Wow, I didn't realise how little we had to get left until I wrote it down.

At this point we need the cot bedding (although won't be used for 6 months) & a mirror to go in the car so can see baby when driving. It's pretty scary! Hospital bag for baby is essentially done. I just need to add a going home outfit,, drinks, snacks & entertainment to mine. Feeling pretty organised if not a bit hormonally imbalanced right now! X

Nearly 36 weeks. Still have nothing other than pram. Eek

Mrs TLC, I'm glad it's not just me being slow on the uptake! ;-)

27 + 3 and have nothing either ! But seeing Mrs tlc so relaxed I feel better lol !

Tbh, babies don't need a great deal of stuff and the earlier you start buying, the more unnecessary stuff you buy and it really is just throwing money away. For baby 1, we spent an absolute fortune as started earlier. Now I know better, I'd sooner put the money away for something later down the line (baby things turn over at a rate of knots, so everything is outdated after 6 months or so). Not only that, but by 13 months or so, they start conning you out of money for big pretty presents ;)

We've stuck to things we will actually need. There's plenty of things we could have bought because we wanted it, but haven't because I am refusing to buy unnecessary things. We've bought everything we have so much in advance because we don't know what our financial situation will be like when we do need these things, so better to get them now whilst we can. There's nothing we've bought that I would say was 'throwing money away'.

Same here. Everything we have bought has a purpose. I'm very frugal & not one to spend for spending sake x

Same with us Lucylastic - although we'd love to buy whatever took our fancy, we simply can't afford to. Everything we've bought has been essential items, stuff to get us through the first 12 months clothes wise, cheap and cheerful, sale buys where possible.

I did some research into how much people generally spent before baby arrived etc, I was shocked to say the least! It spurred me on to work within a certain budget and so far, so good. I'd be annoyed at myself if we spent more than necessary haha.

I'd love to have been like that the first time. We spent over £4000 in the space of 2 weeks on baby stuff!

Gosh, I don't think I've ever even had £4,000 in one go to spend it in the space of 2 weeks! We're sticking to £1,500 as our budget, which covers everything including big purchases like furniture/travel system etc. I'm really glad we've stayed within budget so far.

Of course if we had the money to spend on whatever we wanted, I'm sure I'd be less restrained! But neither of us have high incomes and even £1,500 is a LOT to us!

I've possibly taken organisation to the overkill though, I've had a spreadsheet to keep on top of all purchases and to make sure we stay within budget haha!

We've been more practical this time ive bought clothes mainly and nappies and wipes need to order furniture as I just want the room sorted out now

nowt wrong with a spreadsheet! I've got lists galore! I have an infantry of everything we have including clothing & in what sizes -everything is currently organised in bags by size so can wash it in that order.
I have a tick list for my hospital bag & the babies hospital bag. I also have lists of what still needs to be done
on my part & oh part.helps to be organised.

The closer we get, the more I want everything sorted. The only issue is with working from home, that the room which will be the nursery is also my work room so we can't decorate until Christmas because I need the room for my desk!

Dreading trying to get rid of the desk. We don't have room for it elsewhere in the house so it's got to go completely, thankfully it was just a cheap Argos buy many moons ago but it's pretty big and heavy! One I'll leave to the OH to sort out I think haha :)

Do you know what kind of furniture you're going to go for? We didn't get specific nursery furniture as they're SO expensive. Went with simple white furniture the baby can grow with :)

Oh it's definitely helped me to be on top of everything and have it all written down. I also have an infantry of clothes (what type they are and sizes) and they're in drawers or hung up in the wardrobe according to size

I just need to work out which washing tablets/conditioner are suitable for baby's, so I can get some with the shopping and get the clothes washed!

Going to start working on my hospital bags/birth plan over the next couple of weeks. Is there anything specific you're buying for your hospital bags? Clothes wise we only have 2-3 things which are 'Newborn' size. Until the midwife gives us an estimation on weight/size, then we'll go out and buy more of the first size we'll need - she reckons we'll have a big baby because I'm big (is that how it even works?!), so we didn't want to buy newborn clothes that may not fit!

I know what you mean! My office is now the baby's nursery so am having to relocate to the dining room but fortunately I only have to do a couple of hours a day at home but its storing paperwork etc that I struggle with.

We also haven't got room in the house for the desk but don't want to get rid of it as it's a really good one so hoping to store in the garage until we convert that into another room a few years down the line......

We are going for IKEA, with our son we used my old bedroom furniture which was a tallboy and a wardrobe and got a cot to tie in as we were only in a 2 bed previously. This time baby has a smaller room so we have had to plan for storage so we are going for Stuuva with green and white fronts, I like everything to match though and the cot is pine :-( can't justify buying a new one just for colour though.
We need to order the furniture as there is a 2 week delivery time and I want it in before Christmas so I can get everything in its place. I am nesting really badly this time I didn't with DS but at the moment all the baby things are in the other spare room, our bedroom and it's like we have just moved in!
