I don't want this to sound bad but I find it really hard to know what to do when Maggie is awake and not seemingly wanting to feed and not sleepy enough to sleep.

Occasionally she's very alert and I'll read through and show her a very basic book we have, I'll talk to her and put her on playmat (tummy and/or back) to have a bit of time.

Is this about right?? Sometimes thoughts she's neither awake or asleep so of you try and do any of be above she pays either no attention or starts to cry.

I worry that I'm wishing her asleep more often than not as then I feel I can relax and do stuff that needs doing but I worry then that she's not getting enough interaction. I hate seeing her sitting looking bored. If that's possible at three and a half weeks?!?

I used to put both of mine onto a playmat which had those arches across with stuff hanging down. It also played music. Don't worry about boredom - that sort of thing really is enough at that age!

You could get her some black and white toys to hang on her moses/cot/playmat. They're great toys at that age

same as what the other guys have said, hanging stuff on playmat, time on your knee talking, time in bouncer, I also have a mobile above cot as she is now showing an interest in moving objects and will happily talk away to them lol...she probably gets approx 2-3hrs interaction per day at 9wks old so wouldnt worry...

Thanks, the playmat has arches with a few toys and a mirror. Guess I just worry about firstly making sure I'm doing what I should be with her to make sure she's happy and also think how on earth will I have time to do things if she spends more and more time awake !

we're the same elliott, I have to take each day as it comes and if she takes a nap early morning after her nighttime sleep then thats when I do things even though its 6am in the morning lol...today I was fortunate she had a 3hrs nap so managed to get a nap myself as well as do things...look on youtube at early sleepy cues as we didnt realise jerky arm movements meant time for sleep and would keep her up longer than we should have, but yes some days I am shattered by 4pm with the energy of keeping her entertained and yet she is still very young and those awake times will increase!...
