What did you think about labour?

Having not long experienced my labour - I have to say I would do it again in an instant, and I had that feeling from about 4 hours after the birth!! It is a pain like no other, and I won't kid you its horrendous at the time, but it is all geared towards you meeting your baby, and I kept that in mind through the pain!!

I had no pain releif until I was 6-7cm, when I had an epidural (heaven!!! :D ), and I do feel that my experience was a positive one, I didn't scream, shout, swear or moan (at the end I really wanted to but only at the mw cos she was telling me for an hour that "we just need to get her round this bend" I wanted to shout that "isn't she round that bl**dy bend yet"? :rotfl: ) and as with Sarah H my MW did tell me that I could shout & swear!!

It is an experience like no other, it is the best & the worst but really its the best!!!

i agree with the other posts, they labour wasn't that bad it hurt but it was a forgetable pain. if you get my meaning ? :?

it was the weeing afterwards that bloody stung!!! :x :x :x
but the pain weeing after is worth it 100 times over for the look and hold of your little bundle. :)

i would go through the pain again.

Personally I hated every minute of it, I think it was the unknown that scared me so much & frustration (the midwife kept saying "Oh lovely, you're nearly there" stupid cow, could have hit her, 2 hours later i'm still there pushing with all my might & still no sodding baby!! :rotfl: ) also I tore very badly inside & out & nearly a year on things aren't the same down below but i'm just starting to think maybe I could do it all again

For me, labour was no where near as bad as I thought it might be.

I didn't think about it too much during my pregnancy. I took a philosophical view about it all and just chilled out. I'm sure that helped me during my labour. At the end of the day, the baby has to come out one or another and I defo wanted it to be the natural way.

I had a long labour, 24 hours. It only got really painful about half way through. For me, really painful meant really bad stomach pains like period pains. The only pain relief I could have at that point was diamorphine which I had and that made a huge difference in taking the edge of the pain and managing it for me.

I used that along with my TENS machine which was a godsend for me as I had a lot of back pain which was totally managed using the tens machine. The last 4 or 5 hours I also used gas and air which I found to be brilliant.

I was lucky in that I didn't experience a particularly painful labour/birth. It was a positive experience for me, it's amazing what the human body is capable of. I did however have to have an episiotome which was painful recovering from. I didn't flinch at all when they cut me but for 2 weeks afterwards I was in a lot of pain from it. Well worth it for my little boy though.

I can't wait to do it all again and that's how I felt pretty much straight away after the birth.

ABSOLUTLY FOOKING AWFUL!!!!!

but id do it all again tomorrow!!!! :D

whats a few hours of pain for a lfe time of happiness :D

I was lucky and had a fantastic labour! It only lasted 2 1/2 hours, and never got unbearably painful so I managed without any pain relief. It's a completely different pain to any other you will experience, because there's a point to it - every contraction is one step closer to your baby. And as soon as baby is out nothing else matters in the whole world. I'm still a bit sore now, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat, my baby boy was worth every second!

ditto this - all of it.

Just as everyone else has already posted, it really is extremely painful but the thought of getting bubs at the end really helps you through it and the pain is so quickly forgotten which is why we are all here doing it over and over again!
There is pain relief at hand if needed but make sure you ask early enough if you wanting it! My 1st labour was 6hrs and I had just gas and air but my 2nd was only 2hrs and the pain was worse so I asked for an epidural but was told i was far too advanced into labour to have anythin , so again just had gas and air. And about to do it all again in Aug, although 9 yr later!!

Hi there, well i have to say that i have enjoyed all my labours bar one. and that was my 2 yr old who had me in labour for 3 days solid  and i never thought that she would arrive.......But she did in her own time. ..I have had quick labours and long labours but the rewards are just amazing.I would never change anything about them i just hope that this one does not take that long to arrive....But hey with no pain no gain....

I'm just over 20 weeks away from my due date but I thought it would be a good time to start get mentally prepared for it. What did you think about your experiance with labour and would you do it again? What pain relief did you have and was it good?

i think its painful but barable. I did it 4 times so it can't be that bad.
i had gas and air with all mine. :)

I would just like to say (and yes I know I have already posted on this) that I loved labour.
I was scary, but I loved it!!
I felt so empowered and proud...

:goes and hides in the corner:

its the best part of pregnancy1 i love it too! i know loads of women who love the labour! :)

Its painful but barable as u know u r going to have ur baby at the end of it, with kiyanna i had an epidural but with elise i didnt get time for that so i only hadgas and air n pethadin
x sophie x

Hiya

After watching Birth stories, home bith diaries etc on telly i imagined the worst pain ever so when it actually happened it wasn't as bad as i had imagined apart from the head crowning!

With Willow i was induced and had pethadine and with Conal they never realised till i was 7cm so i had 3 gulps of gas and air wouldn't like to do it with nothing though  Conals head was the owrst evere bbecause it was so small(bone on bone) i swear to god i fels his nose and mouth coming out that wasn't the nicest but as everyone said at the end of the day you have your baby the memory of the pain fades and they you do it all again

I found the pain was excriating but not as bad as i thought it would be (if that makes sense). I managed on only gas and air and a 5mg shot of diamorphine and im a total wimp!
I can say that i loved the second stage (the pushing part) as it felt as if you had something to concentrate on and you knew it would be coming to an end soon and meeting your little babe. :D

it hurt like hell but my little boy is 8 mnths and im 6 months pg so what does that tell u  i used tens until i was fully diatated then i had gas and air which was brilliant.

Well all I can really say is thanks girls. I feel alot better after reading your posts about your labour. I know it's going to hurt like hell but I'm not as scared as I was.
