Hi ladies

So for the entire pregnancy so far I have been avoiding the camera. Was at an event last nite all dressed up and seen a pic of myself and everywhere looks huge. My face, my arms, my legs and obviously my bump. I have put on 1 and a half stone so far and didn't think that was too bad (not ideal but within guidelines). So my question is, is this normal? Does everyone just put weight on their bump or everywhere. I just feel a bit annoyed withy self now.

Thanks ladies...

Well I've had various weight gains with all three pregnancies. Ds1 I gained around 5 stone dd2 I gained 1.5 stone and this one dd3 I've gained just over 2.5 stone so I imagine this one will be 3 by the time I deliver. X

It's totally normal to put on weight when pregnant. All the extra blood, fluid, baby, placenta....it adds at least 2 stone. Of course, some lose weight in tri 1 so the scales might not agree.

Most of my weight is in my bump, but I have of course expanded everywhere due to the water retention. And some women put weight on everywhere and it's hard to tell they've got a bump. Everyone's a bit different.

Eat healthy, drink lots of water, take your vitamins, and unless the midwife has told you to monitor your weight - stay away from the scales! It's only weight. You can lose it once baby is here.

I have my bump weight but I can feel by my trousers I need a wide load sticker on my ass by the end of this pregnancy lol xx

I've clearly gone up due to bump but I don't weigh myself so no idea how much. I think it's all bump though, I don't feel much bigger anywhere else (maybe around my face a bit) but people tell me I don't look like I've gained anywhere except bump.

DD was 10lb 1oz and I had a lot of waters, a big placenta, so I must have lost a stone just in delivery, that goes down more but obviously take a bit longer. It's totally normally to gain weight, I'd think a stone must be the minimum!

I admit I was pretty shocked too to realise I'd put on 1.5 stone when I weighed myself the other week - I have avoided scales so far!! But sounds like that's normal, which is nice. All my weight has gone to the bump too, maybe a little extra on my bum/thighs but only a slight difference. Oh lol and my feet, which are struggling to squeeze into my shoes! Xx

I weighed myself last week and ive put on 2 stone. I was like wtf 2 stone. I said to my colleagues about it and they said yeah but its all bump personally I think its all cream cakes than bump haha but it did make me feel less like a hippo them saying this xx

With dd I put weight on everywhere, but with ds just on my front!

Iv put on about 1.5 stones so far and think it's mainly bump although whenever I end up in a photo I feel like I look massive! I know I'm not because I'm still wearing most of my normal clothes apart from jeans but that's defo how I feel so I honestly don't know if it's actual weight gain or water or just feeling big because of the expanding bump x

If you've only put on one and a half stone, you're doing well! I put on three stone with both pregnancies.

If you're anything like me, I really puffed out whilst preggers, especially in my second pregnancy. It really was mainly water retention though as I'm only half a stone over my pre-pregnancy weight now at two weeks post birth.

At 33w, I know I've put weight on all over. I can still put pre-preg jeans on, but can't do them up. My bra still fits but is right now, so yeah, I know the weight is there, but, it's still visibly all bump.

From the back I don't look pregnant at all.

I'm up roughly two stone xx

At 29 weeks tomorrow, I've put on a stone which is a couple of pounds under what I should have according to an online calculator. Mine is all bump, I don't think I've put weight on anywhere else and I've even had a few people say they think I've lost weight in my face etc (I don't think I have!). I don't look pregnant from the back. To be honest though, if I start to look like I've put on weight in the next few weeks or get water retention etc, I'm not bothered as long as baby is healthy - it's all in a good cause! xx

Thanks ladies, as usual you have all made me feel better and reassured me. I know it's vain and should be the least of my worries but it's hard to look at myself expanding haha!

I'm going to try to stay of the scales and just 'let it go'. I can worry about it next year when baba is here safe and sound and in a proper routine lol xx

According to medical literature I've read, it is perfectly healthy for an average woman to put on around 10lbs of fat during the pregnancy as this is natures way of storing for breastfeeding.

I'm pregnant with twins and have put on almost 40lbs of weight but after breaking it down realise that 7-8lbs of it is fat. Most of it is babies, placentas, amniotic fluid, uterus, blood volume, water retention. But yes, I can see the extra fat as well. But my main cosmetic feat is going to be dealing with a post pregnancy bump that will no doubt resemble a deflated balloon. Those things are much harder to get rid of than fat.

Good luck everyone!

Im still wearing my normal heans as high bumped yayy
And normal tshirts etc but have put on quite a bit still, but mostely on bump

I do always laugh at photos when preg tho as i always seem to get a bit of double chin which is attractive ;)
Won't be long and yourll be loosing it again but it just feels odd to look at a diff you doesn't it!

It really does JJs Mum. I used to be a few stone heavier years ago in my uni days and I dread going back to that! It took so much effort to loose it so the thoughts of having to do it again... oh the joys of vanity!!

I never knew that about storing up fat for breastfeeding, that explains why you slim down so quick when bfing!

As others have said, 1.5st is a perfectly normal about. I haven't a clue what weight I ended up being but I went from a size 10 to a 16/18! 30+ weeks I just ballooned, think swollen everything, double chins, the lot! I had soooo much water retention and within a week of popping it was all gone. My cankles went down within 24 hours!

I've put weight on from head to toe! My legs are full of water so look like two burst chipolatas!! absolutely hate it. Even my fingers have swollen up. My feet have become an eyesore as usually I am a size 5 and none of my shoes or even UGGS fit. Will worry about all that after the baby is here safe and well though. Xx
