Just bumping this thread up to see how we are all doing?

Charlie had sweet potato yesterday for the first time and was not impressed at all

At the moment I am still just giving a little bit of tea about 5pm with a drink of water in a sippy cup, he has been having this for nearly 2 weeks now, when should he be having a main meal and then a dessert for tea (atm he is just having a bit of veg or fruit puree), also after how long should I be starting to introduce a lunchtime meal as well?

Well I still dont feel like i know what I am doing with this weaning thing! Eva has been having something after her lunchtime booby feed, so far she has had baby rice with cooked apple or banana mushed into it, and chunks of banana to play with/eat BLW stylee, she is doing OK, gradually eating a bit more each time, but my god its MESSY!!!!!

She insists on holding the spoon herself if she is having pureed stuff which is fine at home where I dont care how much mess she makes while she is learning about food, but what on earth do we do when out??? We are supposed to be going for lunch tomorrow and I am thinking of giving Eva her food at teatime instead so I dont have to struggle, am I being a bad selfish Mummy? :( How important is it to start with one meal at a set time?

i'm still making it up as i go along hon ;) it sounds like you're doing fine so far!

connor also insists on holding the spoon (and frequently blowing on it when its loaded with food, throwing it at me, or dropping it on the floor) so when i'm feeding him from one when we're out, i do it with him on my knee whilst holding him across both arms so that he can't get to the spoon - its a bit mean, but it saves me from wearing his food in public

personally i don't think it matters if you give her dinner instead so that you don't have to feed out and about yet. i started with meals at set times and try to stick to them, but i don't think connor's that bothered tbh - he loves his food, but booby is far better in his opinion. he was quite pukey yesterday so i didn't bother giving him any dinner at all and it didn't phase him in the slightest.

Hmmm I think I will give it another week or so before I attempt it in public lol, but good plan pinning her arms down!

I am nowhere near brave enough to feed Charlie while we're out yet, will organise around meal times :D

Yep i agree, if i go out i tend to give Ted his bottle as the feed then try and slot a little food in when i get back. There is no routine to my feeding, but as long as Ted is satisfied that's fine by me!

Fi - had a dream about you last night, very wierd..dreamt we met at a party in Yorkshire????? Random!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Aww Anna at least I'm getting a night out somewhere, even if it is in your dream

Hiya Girls!

We've begun our weaning journey! He had some Hipp jars while we were away cus I had no-where to prepare any food but now were back we've been having sweet potato and this lunch time we had a bit of banana purree'd with milk and a bit of baby rice to thicken. He really seems to love his food but not when it gets a bit cooler!

Going to try carrots over the next few days, it says in my book to only introduce new foods after staying on the same food for 3 days to help with digestion.

Hi girls can I join in the fun?! I have been weaning for about a week. He hated his baby rice and would gag on it. He loved his banana though and have been giving him carrot and potato these past few days! I don't think hes very keen on the carrot though! I am really scared of what I will do when I am out. I don't have anything to store the food in yet so I think I will have to give him a jar when I go out for the time being.

This was the first taste of baby rice! He preffered smearing it all over his face!

Aw sweet! I didn't realise u were supposed to stay on same foods for few days

I've been giving him all sorts just to suss out which flavours he likes? maybe i should give him some more time on one thing??

Ooh its blimmin hard this weaning malarkey!!!! :rotfl:

Ps...Fi, i've never even been to Yorkshire, but it was a reet good do!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Aww Anna I wouldn't worry, Ted is happy and feeding well, there is sooo much conflicting advice out there isn't there?

By the way glad we had a good night :rotfl:

ohhh :( weaning has taken a bit of a back seat for me at the mo, James had his op and what with one thing and another its just not been happening. I have my new blender now anyway and by the time I start weaning him properly you'll all be experts and be able to help us - Excellent :D

xxxxxxxx
