I was just wondering what the chances of my waters breaking before 39 weeks was?

I looked in all my books and saw nothing. Its just because baba is lying transverse and it is apparently really dangerous if they do break. I know my sisters waters didnt break with either of hers, but is that unusual?

my mum nor my sis waters broke they had to be broken at hosp. it all deoends rele but in most cases they only break when baby and you are ready. sorry couldnt realy answer your question :?

i dont knoe either, i guess if your worried ring the L&D ward, im sure they be happy to answer any worries u have hun

my waters broke with my son at 38 weeks .. They broke early hours of the monday morning and i had to be induced on the tuesday cos i hadnt gone into labour..

thanks for the replies, its just because he is transverse i worry a bit, I have had some period like pain in my tummy today and i got concerned but it seems to be easing off now, I will call my midwife tomorrow just to be sure, thanks

The natural way of labour progression doesnt actually start with your waters breaking and this is only the first thing to happne in 15% of labours, you should dilate then as baby is ready to come out they should burst and baby is born.

Did you know on the continent they dont break your waters for you and consider it to be a sign of a potential problem if they break first. One of my best mates was a midwife when she lived in Austria.
