Probably me being over sensitive, but was in the pub with hubby and SiL the other day, them drinking, me obviously not.

We were talking about baby names, and they have settled on Mia Sophia. Hm, well, I don't mind Mia, but a) my sister really wants that name and always has done, b) I don't like it as much as others and c) two ending in 'ia' I don't think works. I love Sophia and want it as first name!

I know they were probably kidding, but it was like, right, so I don't get any say in what my daughter's going to be called (if we have a daughter..)?

my OH keeps just making his own decision about names for our little one .,.. its so annoying! Ill take his opinions into account but i think if im going through pregnancy and bloody giving birth then ill have the final say! lol x

I like both names on their own but you are right Mia Sophia is too much! Also if your sis has always wanted the name then it would be rude to pinch it....

People love to have an input though dont they. I dont think they actually expect you to take any notice. Dont say anything, let some time pass and then start the conversation again fresh with just your OH. Sounds to me like you might just be feeling a bit hormonal xx

I think that unless they are discussing and then informing you like you need to take it into consideration, it's just them talking.

It's good that your SIL is interested enough to have an opinion at all.

My SIL is a miserable cow.

I certainly wouldn't pinch your sister's baby name unless it is your long term first choice, which it isn't.

I like Sophia, but don't like Mia - in fact that is one of my sisters baby names.

Thanks everyone. I think it was them just getting carried away with booze, but they are both pretty stubbon and forceful!

Hubby said last night he thinks we'll end up calling our daughter (if it's a girl) Mia or Naomi. Well, as I'm the one who's doing the birth certificate, it'll be Naomi, lol!!

The problem I have with my sister is that she should have married my hubby, lol!! They both have the same favourite names, but she can't have them cos they don't go with her new surname. So hubby thinks we can have them, but I'm not so keen.

Nevermind, 3 more months to go, and hopefully he'll be so proud of me he'll let me have my way,

my SIL is a bit like that, she called her little girl Jasmine last yr, and thinks we should call our little girl (when we have one) a flower related name, im like errm... its my choice and i dont really like any, no thats wrong, i like them, just not for my child, if that makes sense,

were set on Layla Emily or Oliver but she is like oh i dont like Layla no i think you should go with .....

hope u get ur own way hun, i completly agree im going to register the birth, and i will chose the name i want!! pft!

Jenni, I can totally understand where you are coming from. I love Mia and Sophia separate, but as someone has already said its a bit much together. I agree you should have the final say, so try not to worry about it for now and nod along haha.

We had friends over the other day and I asked for advice, we decided on a girls name but cant choose a boys, we are stuck between Oliver, Jack, Noah and Aiden. So these friends start making up really stupid names, what about this and what about that? Im like no, we have chosen the 4 and need help picking one of them?! Also felt a bit upset as it was my baby they were being so stupid about. I guess im feeling too sensitve atm. Being 4 days overdue is doing me no good! xx
