Hi all!
I went to the doctors today to ask for some help regarding TTC as I’ve never been pregnant even though I haven’t always been on the pill, I’ve been trying with my current partner nearly a year, and I work very closely with X-ray on a daily basis so I’m feeling a little paranoid that something is wrong with me.
Can I ask how long roughly should I expect to wait about further tests? I know I won’t be entitled to IVF funding but I would like to rule out as much as I can on the NHS before I go private.
Many thanks for reading ☺️

Varies hugely depending on where you are in the country. What did the doctor advise you today?

My husband has been given a 3 week wait for a semen analysis and I had a 3 week wait for bloods. I had ovarian drilling done 7 years ago and I think in- all that was a 6 month turn around. As above it varies on your area and also the type of testing/treatment needed.

For us, we went to our gp in October last year, we had our tests (semen, hsg, blood, etc) all done and completed by the end of January this year. From there we didn't find out results until May, so about 7 months from gp to finding out the problems and what the t treatment plan was. So it can't be quite a slow process depending on waiting times

Hi!
Ours has seemed like forever...had a laparoscopy in January, which instigated the referral for IVF, and we’re now waiting to start our first round. Been ttc for two years.

Many thanks for your responses.

I had initial blood tests in August to check my ovulation but no follow up after that as blood tests were normal.

My partner had a vasectomy reversal in February and post op semen analysis shows it was a success.

I’m hoping the wait won’t be too long, but appreciate so many people are in the same boat 😕.

Alli x

If you've had all the basic tests from the GP then I assume you're waiting far a referral to the fertility clinic. A lot of what happens next depends on your area. I had to have an ultrasound first before the GP could refer us but a friend who lives in a different county didn't have this until she was referred. Your GP should know what they need. If I recall correctly, it was around 6-8 weeks from referral until our initial appointment. At that point they should go through your options and offer further investigations/treatment as required.

Thank you!

I received a letter today to say I had been referred and I will receive a letter within 6 weeks with an appt, they’ve said if I don’t hear by December to call them!

I feel better already that there’s been some correspondence ☺️.

Thanks again

I don't think the number is important as long as its doubling that's the main thing, or so I have been told anyway.
I have had on and off spotting for the last week but my numbers have been very strong, waiting for another blood test tomorrow and going to book an early scan to make sure everything is ok

Hi. This sounds like me. I had Laparoscopy in January too and we are now waiting for our first appt for IVF. I’m hoping to receive my appt this week and fingers crossed it’s not too long to wait to get started xx
