This is just a rant really, it was all steam ahead yesterday and now i'm all flustered :wall2:

I had a private abdominal scan done and the private consultant said it was all the proof he needed to start with the ICSI.

Just need the Nhs funding...

So i also had an Nhs abdominal scan booked and when i spoke to my GP about it, he said to keep the appointment and instead fo having the scan take the opportunity to speak to the consultant there to get me referred to the private clinic with nhs funding.

So, i decide to phone up and check with the hospital before turning up for my scan tomorrow and i tell them that i plan to speak to a consultant.

I get told that the consultant will not be present as he will not oversee the scan, just the results :wall2:

They say they i need a separate referral to see the consultant from my GP

So i phone my GP at 16:25..... CLOSED!!!! wtf

Now i don't know if i still need to go for the scan tomorrow, i need a separate referral to speak to the consultant AND i can't speak to my GP *sigh*

What a palava!!

Sorry to hear this. They don't make it easy at all do they. Raahhhhhhhh!!!

when you said "I had a private abdominal scan done and the private consultant said it was all the proof he needed to start with the ICSI" what proof did he find on the scan?

Ive never had an abdominal scan done before i may ask about this. I did have a lap and dye done and they found nothing but i'm no so convinced. They must have missed something with me.

All frustrating i know, hang in there Louise x

Ohhhh!!! :wall: ffs Louise that's the last thing you wanted to hear :-( if I were you I'd still go have the scan anyway, and get on the phone to your gp first thing in the morning. What a mare :-( xx

The scan was basically the final proof that there was absolutely nothing wrong with me and there is no reason why ICSI shouldn't work.

Yeah i know, just have to try and get hold of him first thing...

The problem is that if he has to refer me separately for a consultation at the hospital - is that another 2 month wait like it was for the scan appointment?

I'm just hoping the clinic can arrange the funding around us but we aren't holding our breath.

Pfft :wall2:

Sorry hadn't thought of that bit. I would just say to your GP what you have said here...... that you are concerned about the wait etc. Not that it really will probably make a great deal of difference. Why can they not see that a simple delay to them can cause TTCers so much extra stress?

They thought it was necessary to check your tubes weren't blocked but they didn't check that your ovaries were functioning as expected and that you had viable follicles developing?

I don't think a lap and dye checked your follicles anyway...

Ohh what a nightmare! Im sure they make half the rules up as they go along the NHS! Good Luck anyhow Louise x

aww no! what a pain in the backside that is! I am sure you will get it sorted though. give them what for!!!!! :)

Good luck with that, I remember when I got referral to the infertility clinic and there was a nurse at my appointment, she was such a waist of my time and couldnt even explain what she was prescribing to me (I am not kidding), they said I would not see a doctor until I had an HSG and other tests so I just gave up on NHS back then.

I wish you the best, I think you have to be persistent with them otherwise you will not get anywhere. I always ask questions, I think most of the doctors hate me.

Hope all goes well for you and you get some quick and useful answers!

Oh yeah Louise how did the call to the docs go???
