Congrats to all u ladies expecting twins . I have already made a new thread but maybe u might be able to give me ur opinion. My husband and i have kiddies from previous relationships and we found out today that we are expecting our first together. My last pregnancy was a twin pregnancy and it was a rough pregnancy tbh. I was very ill. Would it be unreasonable of me to go to the doctors and request an early scan to see if i have twins on board again? Xx

They might not scan you for that reason,
As some hospitals have new strict rules on scanning, instead what u could say is your periods were a bit all over the place and your unsure who far along you are, as I know they scan you for dating if your unsure of dates, or failing they pay for a private scan as there's so many clinics now that do then starting from sbout £30.
Do you not fancy another set of twins lol
The pregnacy with twins is very hard x

Hey scattyash. The short answer to ur question about another set of twins is preferably NO lol. Its not the feeding or changing or having two babies to look after because my boys were very easy babies (now 8 yrs old), it was the pregnancy and it nearly killed me last time eeeeeek! Maybe i will just wait for the dating scan then coz they saw that i was expecting twins at my first scan last time. I think i am going to b 6 weeks on monday x

You have to push for the dating scan otherwise they will just try snd book you for 12 weeks instead,
Sounds like you did go thru the wars, snd I thought I was suffering lol
Have you had a pregnancy since? You may find things diffrent round agaiN, I understand your fear tho x

No not had a pregnancy since. I had terrible sickness wen i discovered i was pregnant and this time ive been sick twice is all. Had shitty heartburn too. How r u finding ur pregnancy? Xx

Hello canarybird congrats on being pregnant.
With regards to a scan, I don't think they would scan early coz of prev twins either but not sure. I'd say what scatty said to be honest.
Would a few weeks make a difference if they did scan you? I don't know how you would feel? Maybe you would feel more prepared?

I know your percentage would be higher but I wouldn't worry to much yet,
Just speak to your gp about a dating scan soon,
I'm finding this pregnancy very hard and stressful!

Me too nikki! My poor back and stomach back is braking and my stomach feels like its gonna rip and I'm covered in forming stretch marks.... Enough already lol x

Yeah, my belly feels so tight. Then if I bend down to get a cup of tea, I sometimes get this pain like I've trapped a hand or foot.
I'm getting a bit fed up with my lack of mobility too. Think the next 10 weeks or so are gonna be tough.

Yesterday I felt like the boy had gone on to the girls side, my belly was so tight couldn't move and my stomach was all lop sided,
I'm at the moment getting kicked in what feels like the crouch loads and it bloody hurts! They keep doing it over and over
Got scan tomo and I'm gonna ask if they can check my cervix lengh, hoping they will and not refuse x

Mine have a really active period at least once a day and i get kicks and movement all over the place! Kicks in my bum even! I thought at least one had turned but now not so sure. It is very weird when a head or bum pops out one side and it blooming hurts!
Getting around is definately getting harder, and bending down is awful isnt it? I get out of breath just picking something up from the floor. Not to mention the pain i am getting inmy hips at night :/ I am resigning myself to the sofa soon, with breaks to go swimming, lol. Good job i like doing cross stitch

Good luck with your scan scattyash hope they check your cervix too, put your mind a bit more at rest.
My last day of antibiotics tmrw. Still don't feel right, suppose it takes a bit longer to recover when preggers.
Also, got first antenatal class on tues evening lol.

When do you Have your next scan? They still have time to head down,
Yeah bending down is a mission, so is turning over in bed and even having a bath lol I cannot wait till they are here, not that I want them to come early but I cannot wait to feel normal again x

Hope you start feeling much better soon bm, i think our bodies are working vertime so not surprised if they find it harder to fight off bugs. Hope you enjoy your antenatal class, mine also starts tues evening you doing any scatty?

Next scan is on the 15th for me, fx they head downwards soon. Do you think yourss have turned yet bm?

I'm not sure if mine have turned. I have felt kicks in different places and the kicks are not so low down but ain't got a clue!
Got a scan on weds morning. It's an extra one, as last time I saw consultant I was very stressed about my dad, that happened on the Monday and scan on weds. I panicked as I thought hey weren't growing well. So he suggested another scan to reassure me. It's not reassured me, I've reassured myself to be honest by calming down. He said the weights were fine, it was me worrying. I'm more interested in if they have turned lol

Bm is defiantly does take longer to get over anything when your pregnant when I was I'll I thought I was dying and it lasted so long, I remember just laying under a duvet sobbing lol
I'm not too sure bout any anti natal classes not been mentioned any yet, OH has asked me about going I some with him tho lol,

Hope they check my cervix I just don't wanna come across a pain by asking them about it,
But from everything I've been reading with twins they should look, better to be safe than sorry,
And will defo put my out of control worrying mind as rest. X

I don't think they will scan you.
My last pregnancy was twins and I was terrified that this would be another twin pregnancy but they wouldn't scan early xx

You could always pay for a private one? Perhaps if you had a few sets of twins you would get one but I don't think for just one set!

Hey girls, just had a quick catch up on all your news. Sorry to hear that you're all having such a hard time, wish I could tell you it gets easier, but unfortunately - it doesn't! I'm at the stage now where I can barely walk at all, apart from small car rides, I'm completely housebound! The kicks are so intense that my whole tummy is a weird shape and it takes me to go to the toilet!

Sorry I haven't shown face over the last few days, had a pretty agonising time of it. Firstly, I'd gone to maternity assessment as I was convinced that my little boy wasn't moving! They did a heart trace on both babies and everything was absolutely fine, with a few prods and pokes, the midwife managed to get him to move no problem - boy did I feel like a prat! lol


Anyhoo, later that day, they also sent me for a scan only to find that one twin, the little girl, had a low amount of amniotic fluid, almost 2 thirds less than her brother!! All the details they gave me was that the 'deepest pool' was 22cm and that was considered pretty low! So now, I'm being monitored every week and have another scan tomorrow morning.


I've exhausted Google on the matter and it comes up with some scary stuff, as it does, but I've been drinking loads more water and resting a whole lot more so hope this helps.


On the plus side, I now have 2 babies head down! Didn't think there was any room to turn at such a late stage. My little boy has gone from transverse, to breech and now is head down! Whereas my girl hasn't turned at all throughout the pregnancy!
